Fun fact: In the brazilian dub, Nigel's voice actor, Guilherme Briggs, also voiced Cosmo from Fairly Odd Parents, Buzz Lightyear, Tarzan, Mickey, King Julien, Superman, Him from Powerpuff Girls, Marvin the Martian, the Minions, Jim Carrey's Grinch, Samurai Jack, Optimus Prime, Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop and many other very famous characters!

And he did an awesome job as Nigel. Not that the original one is bad, but the portuguese version of his theme song is surprisingly good, which caught me pretty off guard when I first watched it.

This is still one of the most beautiful and vibrant movies I've ever seen with some pretty great songs. Plus, I love that it raised awareness of a real life extremely endangered parrot, the Spix's macaw, of which only around 160 individuals remain, and are only just now being released back into the wild.

Only now in recent rewatch I could realize that this movie is Blu overcoming PTSD. See, he couldn't fly because when he was gathering confidence to try and fly for the first time, when he was a chick, a sudden scare caused by poachers made him fall, basically causing trauma. And from that point until the movie ended, even if Blu built up enough stamina and confidence to run, he would stop himself from flying.

Oh I loved it when I saw Rio for the first time, fantastic the way we got to know the wonders and nature in Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil.. and my absolute fav moment is when Blu, despite his fear of flying, throws himself for Jewel: "I'm not gonna let you go, we're chained to each other birds, remember?", aw my heart, his love for Jewel, stronger than his fear, was what prompted him to be able to fly.. Really the macaws and birds are awesome creatures

My grandmother is a huge bird lover. Usually, when I was younger and I went to her home, I'd often ask her to go watch a movie at the movie theater, but for Rio, she was almost the one that asked to go. And a few months ago, my sister also went crazy for this movie (especially the songs in it)...

What is funny, is my high school’s marching band, after this came out, did “Real in Rio” and “Hot Wings” for their Christmas Parade performance. The theme was “Christmas in Paradise”, so both songs were fitting.

I heard there will be another one. The third one to be exact,which will be a prequel. To be honest with you,the first one has always been the best. Also here's a sad fact: The bird species Blu was,is actually an endangered species that almost went extinct. Only a few of them remained. This movie will always be underrated and a classic that defined a generation. We need more movies that tackles with animal problems and find a solution to help raise awareness,just like this one did. And in any instance,from animated movies. I'm still mad that Disney shut down Blue Sky and brought the Ice Age franchise. The song that Blue was singing to Jewel with the disco ball,I had it in my MP3 way before this movie came out.

As far as I’ve heard of how many Spix macaws are left in existence, there are 88 of them left. All of which are mainly in captivity in certain parts of the world outside of Brazil.

Fun fact: This movie is what caused the first ever cancelled Pixar film! It was called Newt, and it was cancelled because it had a nearly identical premise.

Yeah newt was canceled, but what you said is mostly incorrect. Firstly, Rio didn’t cause newt’s cancellation. Pixar just decided to cancel it because they didn’t think it would preform well. Second, what actually replaced newt was inside out, not Rio. And lastly, spixs macaws exist but blue footed newts (this is what I heard) don’t.

This Blue Sky film is one of my favorites! The music slaps my favorite being “I Wanna Party,” the characters are loads of fun and the visuals are nothing short of beautiful. Fantastic animated film!

I remember how much I wanted to watch “Rango” first, when it came out in 2011, but instead me and my family went to see “Rio” and I don’t regret it cause this movie is just so colourful and wholesome, and has a great songs (“Hot wings” is still in my playlist)!

Been so long witnessing Rio! Other than Ice Age, Blue Sky sure pulled another winner with this movie that would spawn a franchise on its own. Stars Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway sure gave great performances as the pair of Spix Macaws!

I love this movie because its definitely underrated i would say and I think it’s so colourful and I love that incorporated Brazilian culture and story is amazing and I love the characters too. @@commandixnostalgia2321 Yup. Director Carlos Saldanha did say that a third film was already on the table shortly after the release of the second movie, but since Blue Sky shut down. Plans were put on hold. Whoever’s in charge now with defunct Blue Sky projects should give this a chance elsewhere with dignity. It worked for Nimona.

Honestly, I really like Nigel. He's impressively intimidating for being just a normal bird, and few villains in any animated movie I've seen felt as dangerous as he did with the sudden ambushes and throat grabs.

Just some advice Tim If you ever react to the sequel (Rio 2) please don’t title it better the first. Because a lot of fans of Rio, hate the sequel (much like how Wreck It Ralph fans hate Ralph Breaks The Internet). Consider this a warning because the fans might get angry at you if you call Rio 2 better than the first

I still remember when the trailer for this movie was released when I was younger, and I still remember seeing the movie in theaters back in 2011 (also very very young) and revisiting this movie back in 2019 I fell in love with it again. To this day I still feel like this is one Blu Sky’s Greatest film’s of all time.

yeah the monkeys are very small! The monkey's are called common (White-tuffed) marmosets. In the wild, the male marmosets usually weigh about 280-350g and are usually 19cm in height. And the females usually weigh about 280-360g and are usually 18cm tall. Very small!
