Please keep this video up forever. I always have to watch it before using my kiln.

I have a problem and it is that I place the first program in a temperature of 300 f. And when the burning started, it puts the temperature on full. And I checked the programming and it's okay, what could be happening? Aid.

I was just gifted a used SC2 from someone who worked with PMC. I am an enamelist and many of these terms are confusing to me: ramp? hold? second ramp? etc. I just want to get to 1450' and leave it while I put work in or out when I'm ready. My enameling classes have just set the temp and left it there-for hours. Is there another way to use this that is easily condusive to enameling needs? Will it hurt the kiln leaving it at high temp? also, there is a cone in the top. I have no idea what that is for. leave it in? take it out? look for something, does it change? lol thank you--I am so stoked with this new kiln!

You can simply do a full ramp up temperature (press up until it says FULL). For pottery, and a lot of other things, you have to more slowly ramp up temperature (degrees per hour), or else you risk too rapid of a heating and cracking/explosion occurring. Pottery for example needs time for the moisture in the clay (even if it appears dry) to slowly diffuse. Chemical processes also occur over time. So for pottery there is a concept of heat work. In that area, it's not a matter of just hitting a temperature, it's a measure of how much overall heat the work has been exposed to (or more technically, how much overall energy put into it). So, you may have multiple key temperature points, and multiple ramp up periods, and different holding times for each.

On a similar note, I'm more into lost wax casting. I've been curious about enameling. Do you have any recommended learning sources or youtube videos? Thanks!

I don't understand why there are 2 rates? I am trying to fire a already infused glass bead and art clay silver pmc and it says to fire at 1450 for 30 minutes

Hi, +deweycutie . Thanks for reaching out! That sounds right for art clay. Silver PMC is going to be different than art metal clay, though. Here's a handy chart for recommend firing temps with different types of silver PMC - www.riogrande.com/Content/PMC-Relative-Strength-IS-pdf If you let us know what type of art clay you're using, we can help you figure out the best method for firing it. Thanks!

I have a kiln, but not sure if I can turn it off and unplug it in the CPLt mode with out damaging the Kiln...I read the instructions and watched the videos several times, but nothing states what you do AFTER the program reaches the CPLt mode.

+ hi John Kadow. You can turn it off and then either unplug it or leave it plugged in. whichever you prefer. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.Mark N Tech

The one thing you do not explain is how to make the second or third ramp a FULL ramp to the final temperature. For example 200*/hour until 560*, hold for 30 mins, then FULL RAMP to 1750* hold for 3.5 hours.

Hi +ClassyGeek! Thanks for reaching out :) Let's see if we understood your question correctly. When programming ramp temp and hold times, you simply need to hold the up arrow on your ramp until it says FULL. Then press the "Start/Stop" button to save that setting. Did that answer your question? Let us know if we can provide any more information! Our Jewelry Tech Team would be more than happy to talk you through any process, feel free to give them a call at 800-545-6566 if you'd like to speak with them!
