It such a fun to see how happy you are to be in your hometown again, which is totally normal. Although you have left it recently in the meantime obvious changes occured. You were lucky to get the non-reserved seat in super crowded Nozomi shinkansen at Friday late afternoon or even evening. It is interesting how many trains are leaving Tokyo within such short time intervals, but when taking into consideration the population of Tokyo and the fact that people from other parts of Japan tend to work there it is quite resonable. So your anniversary video took you back to the place where everything started in the past. Again congrats to both the anniversary of your channel and your usual excelent job. Looking forward to new travel adventures soon to come.

Thank you for the updates Rion! The travel updates about the trains and Shinkansen really help. That's my biggest worry for my trip. I'm not good with direction and worried I'm going to get lost or not make a reservation when I need to, so these help a lot. :) T minus 2 weeks! I'm currently working on cramming all my stuff into a small enough case where I won't have to make a reservation on the train lol. Let's keep walking! Also glad your mic still works ok after dropping!

Hi Rion, love all your videos. Watching your videos almost everyday - super interesting and informative. Have been visiting Japan every year since 2018 (except during the pandemic) and will be going to Hokkaido the end of October.Just can't seem to get enough of Japan. Every time I miss Japan, I'll watch one of your videos - makes me feel like I'm in Japan traveling with you Can you please make a video to help us navigate Umeda/Osaka stations as well as the areas around these stations? This area is kinda confusing and hence challenging to find our way around. Thank you so much.😊

Aloha Rion! Another great Video! I was trying to find a good Hiroshima Okonomiyaki for our trip in November and you showed us the one in Tokyo Station. How convenient! I love the night views on your train ride, I can never get enough of the Tokyo lights. Regarding Gran Class, Just do it! We rode it in 2017, it was awesome, it ended too soon. Its cheaper than a First Class Air ticket. Looking forward to seeing Universal studios Halloween thru you. Keep Walking!

After watching all of your videos & joining your live streams during the pandemic, I was so excited to finally see the places & eat the foods you’ve introduced when I visited this past summer. 🤩 Unfortunately, some things have already changed, like the fancy apple juice vending machine in Tokyo Station, but I really enjoyed strolling through the Namba Parks Garden after eating at Kua Aina. Now, I’m pleasantly surprised that there are still many new places & foods to try (i.e. Hoshino Coffee & Country Ma’am). 😋 Can’t wait to feel the Osaka Spirit when I return for the World Expo & wear that Myaku Myaku T-shirt! 😎✨ (1st version, not 2nd 😂)

Hey Rion. Just to let you know that as of October 1st, all JR Rail Pass users can now use the Nozomi or Mizuho Shinkansen but those people need to buy an additional ticket which costs more or less depending on the distance (shortest distance costs an additional 2530 yen while the longest cost almost 10000 yen). Both old and new cost JR Rail pass users can use this feature. In my opinion it is not that worth it for most travelers (especially on the Tokaido side) but people that are in a hurry and willing to spend can pay more and use it
@wcs1988 Жыл бұрын
Hi Rion! Thanks for all the wonderful videos! Been following since COVID for all the helpful guides! Would like to check with you, for JR Pass, are we allowed to take Nozomi non-reserved seats, Car 1-3? I only read that JR Pass can book reserved seats for Hikari, not sure if I can sit on Nozomi non-reserved seats, able to seek your advise?

Is it still cheaper to get JR pass for the foreign travellers to travel via Shinkanshen? Or it's better to try your luck at discounted tickets booth? Some said it's cheaper to take domestic flight than traveling via Shinkansen with the recent price hike lately? I guess Okonomiyaki is not an ideal food of choice when one is in a rush, same goes with Takayuki? Risk of third degrees burn on the tongue and buccal mucosa. So, are you going to attend the USJ Halloween Party/Parade?
@RionIshida Жыл бұрын
Arigatooo Kedderick! Yes! 50,000 JPY for 7 days, if I ride round trip from Tokyo to Osaka, already 28,000 JPY.. So it would be very cheaper especially for travelers who wanted to travel all over Japan by Shinkansen😊 True! LCC airline usually cheaper, a bit inconvenient though! Yes, for now planning to visit USJ too, Excited😆

JR Pass is a terrible deal now. Who would travel all over in only 7 days? You'd need to go back and forth between Tokyo and Osaka twice to get the value out of it... I think for 95% of tourist itineraries the pass has become obsolete.@@RionIshida

The discounted tickets seem like a pretty good deal if you have some extra time and know how to get around the station, buuuuuut I think when I eventually visit Japan, I won’t use it though. I’d pay 500¥ to not get confused and lost in a train station with only N3 level Japanese lol 😂

I watched most of your videos, I heard the fares went way up? How much is the reserved seat cost from Tokyo from Osaka on the 2.5 hour train in US dollars?
@Cloudyfroggo11 ай бұрын
Can i ask, what's the name fo the okonomiyaki restaurant that you ate at?
@steveokubo5865 Жыл бұрын
Not sure I understand. So, if you purchase the Shinkansen ticket from that discount ticket store, the date is another day, so you have to go to the JR Ticket desk to reissue a ticket with a date for the day you're traveling on the Shinkansen? Is that why the tickets are discounted? If I totally misunderstood, please explain the part about changing the date. Thank you.
@RionIshida Жыл бұрын
Yes! Originally it's for Coupon tickets for company which has settled date. So that's why we need to change the date ^^

I think I didn't quite understand the point about handing over my suitcase or paying for suitcases. If you pick up the JR Pass as a tourist when you arrive in Japan, you can simply travel on the JR trains without registering your suitcases, can you not? Thank you😁😊🙋
@florin529 Жыл бұрын
If you have a large suitcase you need to reserve a special seat that can fit your suitcase. If it's just a carry on size you don't need to reserve a special seat. Check out the luggage reservation rules for Shinkansen if you are planning on bringing large/oversized luggage.
