Thanks for the great explanation. I was amazed when getting into flyfishing that the different weights were separated by the weight of a business card..spread over 30 feet! Honestly I’m still amazed by that. I have Rio lines on all 7 of my rods. Great product and how to videos. Really appreciate your help and information! 👍👍👌🎣

Excellent explaination, ive just bought the rio gold elite #5 and its amazing on both my 8'6" 4 weight rod with a fast action, and even better on my 9' 5 weight with a medium fast. Brilliant line.

Great informative video, thank you. I also love the Technical trout line. Just wondering do you need 30ft of line outside rod tip to load rod? Or can rod be loaded at the colour change of 20ft?

Advice on how to clean and maintain the new Slickcast lines please?

Thanks for the video Chris... good description of your lines. I have a 4wt rod with a slower/deeper action (more like the IM6 rods of 20 years ago). I have always used DT lines on my rods and only a year or so ago got an InTouch Gold (I think you renamed them Elite?) for my 6wt, but for my 4wt, I was thinking about the gentle presentation of the Technical trout line but in the DT version because I think it will mend better and roll cast better (which I don't do too often). Do you have specific thoughts on that?

Best taper to pair with an Orvis Recon 5 wt? Smaller streams most of the time.

RIO Perception in that case - perfect for small streams, and a great all around taper

"30% less stretch." (quote) According to my experience fly line stretch usually is measured (by the industrie) until the line breaks. Or is there any other standard to measure it? I very much doubt, that mending the fly line (or similuar movements) will add enough force to any fly line to activate any (relevant) stretch. If stretch could be activated that easily (by such small force application), then such a line should dampen all takes (making them impossible to be felt). In my experience fly line stretch is not activated castingwise, not by avg. casting at least. Please correct me, if my understanding is incorrect. Thanks!

Would non stretch b negligible tho as ur never really putting enough weight on it to stretch it in normal fishing not until a take I suppose it sets hooks a lot better tho just wondering

It's a marginal thing, D, when using light pressure, for sure. The forces on the line when casting are enough for a good caster to tell the difference there, and also when you are fighting a fish and need to steer it away from an obstacle with pressure, that is another area the low stretch really makes a difference.
