No it's not the FM12 is a military mask, the successor to the S10. Some police forces bought them but they are primarily a military mask.

I can't give a name, but I've got this bulgarian gas mask, I think it's pretty modern, I'd be surprised if it's older than maybe the late 70s, probably newer, with what looks like it's original filter. Do you know if it's likely to have had asbestos in it? Or is that more of a case by case thing?

Hunk always had an S 10 mask with red outserts. And used an HK MP5. Hunks look was inspired by the SAS. In the remake only difference is they switched his helmet to an American helmet and gave him a belt and more gear. In addition his tactical uniform changed from grey to black. Umbrella was founded by Englishmen. So it would make sense their elite Security unit was modeled on SAS. U.S.S. were even part of Umbrella Europe along with the U.B.C.S who used Puma Helicopters. But U.S.S used the American Blackhawk Helicopter. The U.B.C.S were mercernaries, ex military members, legionnaires, war criminals, ex convicts, soldiers of fortune, former communist & other guerilla fighters, from around the world US, Western Europe, Eastern Europe in particular Russia, Latin America, the Carribbean, Africa, Asia, etc. The U.S.S was made up of Former Military Special Forces members from G20 countries US, UK, Germany, France, etc. and the Elite of Corporate Security who were trained on a special island called Rockfort. The S-10 was used by U.S.S. because they did raids into labs often or went after high value targets or materials so needed the red outserts. They used mainly Heckler & Koch weaponary mostly MP5s & HK pistols, but also mostly favored I believe Walters & Glock 9mms, and American .45 acp 1911s. The U.B.C.S. was modeled more on the French Foreign Legion, and Russian Spetsnaz, but used US equipment like M-16/Ar-15, and a Swiss/German sidearm favored by the French a Sig Sauer SigPro series hand gun. They also used the German made HK MP5.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why would you want the visor down with a gas mask? The visor doesn't protect from impacts, it's meant to protect from stuff like thrown liquids or flying broken glass. The mask is already going to do that, so it seems pointlessly inconvenient.

Two years late, but the visor is still used because getting things tossed into your face will still damage/break the mask and transfer quite a bit of the impact to your face as well since the mask isn't designed to shield you from physical damage.

All filters that attach to filter hoses will work with them, and no Tanker helmets will only fit masks designed to make a seal with them.

Weirdo Unknown I have a riot helmet and an FM12 and it fits almost perfectly. The Mesh head-harness doesn't rub like other straps and if you use a hose like I do you can also keep the visor down fully.

I know you english have always been good with making your masks interface properly with your helmets. Here in the US that isn't as much as a concern as it should be.

Yes and no. The shape of the PASGT is fine but the old suspension system isn't terribly comfortable in the best of circumstances much less combined with a mask. The new ACH is much more comfortable with or without a mask on, namely due to the new pad system. You have to swap the pads fairly often for maximum comfort, but it beats the old system. You can also were ear pro with the new helmet. That was next to impossible with the PASGT.

The ACH looks similar to the British MK7 helmet, I know the ACH came first, I really ought to try and get a MK7 helmet if one ever turns up for less than £50.

I also helps if you a gave a helmet that's larger and designed to take gas mask. Like my PASSGAT, ACH and MK.8 Spartan. Great video and get in site, not many people realize the difference in standard roit gear and advanced gear.
