They're a secret society capable of pulling strings and influencing every part of Runeterra, except Icathia and Ixtal, due to the void problem of the former and the seclusion of the latter. I don't think they're also within Targon due to the nature of Targon itself. It's a harsh environment, and I don't think any of the Black Rose are suicidal enough to scale it. That aside, they also scour the world, seeking magical artifacts and potential weapons, as preparation for a grim disaster; Mordekaiser's return. Because with his return, he will also bring his army alongside him. He managed to conquer Runeterra twice, once during his life and another after his initial return.

The "Trifecta" (The 3 ACTUAL rulers of Noxus) doesn't stand for it, but its been in effect so long, that it's hard to break The Black Roses grasp. (This is a summary off the top of my memory, but i hope that helps!)

Gangplank is literally gangplank though, thats why he survived it, look at his lore and his kit, he's also pirate themed, so he stays in motion, takes his punches, and deals untenable damage to his opponents in reaction.

The fact that YOU need to "stay in motion" to dodge illaois tentacles in League gameplay to beat her or "prove you're worthy of living" in amazing storytelling in gameplay

that sounds great on the paper but what i learned from experience, in reality the way to counter illaoi is not by staying in motionq but by standing your ground as if you are denying the Nagakaboros concept. 4 out of 5 times when i play Illaoi on top i have harder time winning against more aggresive players that engage me every time i E them instead of running.

@@ajhintleman215 of course it goes without saying that illaoi opponent will always try to dodge E, but in case they dont i fought many champions that instead of insinctively trying to get out of range and break E's effect they go full aggro mode like D&D barbarian going for reckless attack. Chogath would Q you as one your E lands you are stuck in animation for a second and his silence stops you from slamming. Darius if caught in your E would rather get in melee range and pull you hoping his bleed out DPS your tentacles, even quinn would rather blind you and prock her passive before flying away. To be fair this also goes to other person's comment that even though standing your ground it seem they are still in motion so i guess i AM somewhat wrong in my initial statement :D

@@frankcayseron8637 Playing Cho'gath against Illaoi when she E's you is just a dmg check. "can I deal more dmg to her than she does to my soul? and deny her from destroying it?", then back to farming. Just be in front of her instead of the side, so the wall tentacles don't hit you

10:38 It would actually be cool and interesting for Nagakabouros to be a Watcher that escaped from the Void because it didn't want to sleep like the others so it ended up in Runeterra's universe. At one point, it got bored and started to pay attention to the Buhru tribe. It judged them on their way of life and granted its powers to those he deemed fitting to represent it, like Illaoi. It's the god of *motion* which contrasts well with the Watchers just wantng to *sleep.* I bet that's already part of Riot's lore but they just haven't told us yet 👀. It makes too much sense for it to be a random coincidence 🤔.

Damn that would be really cool. The story can go so many ways from here. Maybe the buhru tribe where the predecessors of an ancient freljord tribe, and the Nagakaborous , a watcher, basically followed them, curious, over centuries, and maybe at some point decided to be Nagakaborous . Maybe she was from the same realm as the watcher's (the void) but it was the watchers that invaded and Nagakaborous was one of the last of its native kind, half corrupted by their void-ish infection causing her to grow tentacles. Maybe Nagakaborous managed to escape Lissandra's eyes by hiding in the sea, never leaving. And slowly spread her influence to one day take over runeterra biding her time until the watchers finally return as per Lissandras quotes.

It is just fighting game lore... which is basically anime lore... Except for Mortal Kombat/injustice fighting games don't have a "kill only animation". In the case of MK... everything is a kill animation even if the character is still alive.

The 3D model will most likely just be the flat wall of eyes, and not an entire creature. Animators trick is to never waste effort on making things that aren't in view of the camera, And if the whole animation is story boarded then most likely it'll just be a square wall of eyes.

nagakaboros might be runetera's version of "creator" and watchers are just its minions. Other theory bouncing in my head could be that Nagakaboros and watchers are yin and yang because by old lore watchers want to destroy the runetera because its stopping/preventing them from sleeping and doing nothing. Watchers are driven by the motive opposite of nagakaboros's "always stay in motion" concept.

3:45 Speaking of being in motion, the tentacles absolutely display a threat to the enemy team Illaoi is playing against, and with this obstacle the enemy will have to acknowledge and figure out how to overcome such obstacle, whether to resolve it head on or take it slow, but react too slow and opportunities will dwindle, because as they say in life, you miss every shot you don't take- which ties so well with Illaoi teaching people to keep adapting and keep moving forward

In my personal head cannon Nagakabouros is a massive snake creature who has constricted the planet of Runeterra, and it is Nagakabouros’ motion which turns the planet on its axis. A god of motion in a literal sense as well as the metaphorical.

she kind of reminds me of a heavier built Eddie from GG ACR, who sent out a shadow demon that attacked with him. He was a really fun character, so I'm excited to see if Illaoi plays similarly to him (with mechanics, I already know the playstyle is different, as Eddie has some of the worst health in his game, but more evasiveness with his wings).

Here's an Idea, what is Nagakabouros has some kind of connection to the void, now this may seem silly with most void monster's being purple, but what if the creator of the void was like a sibling of Nagakabouros? or more likely, part of Nagakabouros that developed a will of its own? this idea may seem silly, but ocean gods in many games have connections to the eldritch (or void in the league universe), perhaps Nagakabouros is just one piece of a much grander game in the league lore universe
