My favourite band throughout the decades. Richard was such an integral part of the sound of the band. I'd never thought of the wall of sound analogy but you're right. Bev doubled up on the drums to help achieve that unique sound and Richard helped Jeff and Lou Clark with the orchestration arrangements that gave the spine-tingling textures that became ELO's trademark sound. Many thanks, Adam, for that great tribute which was clearly from the heart. Consider me your latest subscriber.

In 1975 when I had decided to buy an ELO record with my sister (who wanted me to get ELO for ROB), I was about to get Eldorado, but then I heard on local FM Daybreaker- and so I took home On the Third Day, which is still my favourite! Richard was great with the Move too, and there's a video in which Jeff is playing piano while Richard was playing bass. Richard made a collaboration album with David Morgan in 1986, 'Earthrise' that's worth a listen. It was great to see Richard on keyboards on Jeff's shows from the 2010s, long after the others such as Bev were gone.

Let's not forget the massive part the late louis clarke had with creating and arranging the orchestral sections. ❤
