Could you go over more Tate games please I loved this. Tate was one of the LAST geniuses in the modern era, and raised two exceptional sons Andrew and Tristan I'd love to see more breakdowns of his best games.

Emory Tate beat many GMs in an official and non-official game. I wonder why he never becomes a grandmaster, it is not fair, RIP Emory Tate, and big thanks for raising 2 top G's in our era. Love his games please upload more.

What a superb game! I'm saddened I've only heard of this gentleman because of his death. :/ swashbuckling indeed! it was Romantic chess for the modern world! :D I loved especially, that after that glorious tactical display, he had white locked down in Nimzo-like prophalaxis and zugzwang. White was lost in the end to even find a good move! what a wonderful turn of style. It was an excellent game! Cheers!

9:24 i was wondering why he couldnt play the bishop back to c1 as the knight is much more useful as an active piece, but then i saw the beautiful rxg1 kxg1 and nxf3+!! winning the queen as the bishop is hard pinned to the king! beautiful game!

After black's h5 why couldn't white simply mop up that pawn with his bishop that was supported by the queen?
@SoWe1
@SoWe1 9 жыл бұрын
+Vladimir Raskovic haven't checked with an engine but I think if white takes the pawn then Nc4 is counterattacking the pawn on b2. The pawn can't be defended (Na4 just runs into say Qa5+, Rb1 doesn't help, Nxb2, Rxb2, Bxc3+ winning the rook)

Thanks SoWeMeetAgain. The Nc4 threat does look like a probable deterrent.

+Vladimir Raskovic based on my analysis g4 wins material if the bishop takes on h5
@vargas2022

Agreed, Stu J. The pin on the h-file that the situation would create totally eluded me. I don't see how white wouldn't lose material after Bxh5 (of course, only after you pointed out the g4 move).
