He passed away on Friday…so he began by spending the long holiday weekend in paradise. What’s sadly ironic for someone whose most popular songs were about beaches or spending time on/in the ocean…is that he passed away from a rare & often deadly form of skin cancer directly linked to frequent, extended sun exposure…especially without sunscreen. 😕 I hope his family uses some of his billions to help fund awareness of the risks/dangers of prolonged exposure to the sun without strong SPF &/or long sleeves, long pants, hat & coving for the neck/ears. My uncle passed away from melanoma skin cancer. He worked spreading organic fertilizer(composted manure) on fields for decades using tractors with no cab or covering wearing short sleeve/sleeveless shirts, rarely a hat & no sun screen. He had literally over 150 pre-cancerous & cancerous skin spots/lesions removed in the 7yrs before he passed away. They missed a small spot behind his ear just in the edge of his hairline. By the time they found it…it had grown down into his neck towards his brainstem(where your brain connects to your spinal cord). They operated 3 separate times & did radiation/chemo twice. They thought they had finally gotten rid of it as his scans were clear for 6 months of monthly scans…so they told him he could wait 3 months to get his next scan. When he got the scan after 3 months it had already grown so close to his brain steam there was nothing they could do as he wasn’t strong enough for chemo & part of it was too close to his brain stem to hit with targeted radiation. He passed away in 2004 & my dad passed away in 2005 from mesothelioma lung cancer. 😢

This one hits hard my dude... Literally been listening to him my whole life... So many good memories of jimmy buffet songs... My favorite though (gather round children, gen x has a story to tell) was listening to the radio one night when a caller was complaining about his gf for 5 minutes and then he told the DJ "just play something that fits my situation dude" so he cued up Margaritaville and said "this is for u caller. U utterly embody the phrase " some people claim there's a woman to blame, but I know it's my own damn fault!!" My other great JB memory is a great slow dance to " why don't we get drunk and screw", but that's a story u kids are too young for.... 😂 RIP Mr jimmy buffet, and thank u so much for the memories... Now I'm gonna go blast "come Monday" as loud as my stereo will play it❤
