Losing a beloved pet will be always painful. I know and I wouldn't wish it to anyone. We love them as our kids and it's just sad, plain deep sadness when they pass. Malaya will be forever thankful for the great life yoi have given him. I always remind myself that our pets have loved us every minute we have given them. That maybe, they have fulfilled their purpose in our lives. Lost our 14yo puspin early this year. He was our panganay. The lost shattered us but my husband and I tried to remember all the happy memories we have shared with him for those 14 years. We would have wished for more years with him but we were also thankful for the 14 years we have shared. Last week, I commented that you should never stop vlogging. And that you are lucky to have RJ as support and as your best bud. Right now, just wanna say, do what you have to do. Take a rest. Recharge. You have been tired these past few weeks. And Malaya. Fly free Malaya! Whatever pain she must have felt, they were all gone now. As she's an angel bird flying on the rainbow bridge watching over her family, Mikey, RJ and ate. Hugs Mikey!

I like how you view life and everything that it gives you, especially in times like this. I am encouraged by you in so many ways and it seems like it is my turn to encourage you to go on. Our darling 'other-species' family members are no less precious and cherished. Loss of pure love is palpable and grief, real. Even years later it makes me terribly sad re-watching this segment. It's our greatest honor to be their guardians. Losing your furry, feathered or scaly "child" while away adds to the heartbreak. Sorry for your loss! Malaya was a rescue, and no matter how much love and attention she would have received, they’re might not have been anything else that you could have done. But a loss is still a loss. As well, I can’t imagine anyone from the Mabuhai Squad would want you to work at the expense of your health (physical, emotional, spiritual). I won’t presume to speak for any one else, but I wish you health and healing in this time of sorrow. Mikey, as much as we’ll miss your daily adventures, you and RJ both do need to take it easy from time to time. You’ve done a great and admirable job trying to keep these daily, but we’ve seen it take its toll on others who did these daily (Wil & Haley Dasovich come to mind) at first, eventually scaling down to every few days. It is much likely the superworm she ate killed her. Superworm is a very active and strong prey items that is capable of killing lizards, hedgehogs, and other predator that ate them alive whole. And if Malaya ate it whole alive, the worm would have punctured a hole in one or more of her organs trying to escape. Much like other cases of predator's death caused by superworms. One of their close relative species actually bites back when a predator grabs it - the bite is not only smelly, but also painful and strong, strong enough to hold its 6cm body clung to the predator's soft tissue upside down.

Yes, these have caused trouble with leopard geckos, skinks, bearded dragons, etc. Not only through biting, but the skins can cause impactions. If you need to feed any larger preds superworms, please try pre-killed (cut or crush the head right before feeding) but if you can, use alternatives with weaker jaws and skin. EDIT: Just read that most types of roaches (Only exception is the German house pest, or for museum/zoo purposes) are illegal in Canada but it might have been an old forum post. Maybe try large crickets or locusts?
