To be honest Polaris is for me personal the most perfect Metalcore band around at the moment. They are just perfect in terms of mixing heaviness with those beautiful cleans and the instrumentation is always on point. And Ryan is and will ever be just a legend and his legacy will live on into eternity. RIP Ryan!

I had the privilege of seeing Polaris just last week in Melbourne, and I believe it was one of the first arena-level shows they've ever done. Jesse from Windwaker stepped up and played an absolutely phenomenal set, I can only believe as a tribute to Ryan, and never intending to stand in his place. There were more than a few moments throughout where Jamie stopped to just take stock of the show, and the crowd, and the reaction, and even between the songs Overflow and Martyr, took a few moments to honour Ryan and provide something akin to a tribute or eulogy for Ryan... I will say, never in my decades of going to metal gigs, have I ever seen a few thousand people quietly just... sit on the floor, all together, and say nothing at all, like a moments silence... You absolutely could have heard a pin drop. Rest well Ryan, wherever you are, and thank you for the tunes mate.

We as a society have failed. We are letting the next generation of artists, actors, creators, etc get destroyed mentally then blame the individual who is no longer around. Great stuff brother. I felt that emotion behind this one. It’s contagious. My favorite Polaris experience revolved around a breakup I went through after finally finding a girl who appreciated metal music. We had to separate, and I remember driving home and I just tossed on “Crooked Path” and flew down the highway. Tears washed over me from the emotion. Everything just felt so fucked, but that song pulled me through the car ride home. Screamed every lyric with bad technique. My love for that man will never die. There are so many other memories I have of his music that will stay with me forever. Rest in peace to our brother.

I’m gonna miss Ryan in Polaris, they have become one of my favorite bands. It’s sad we only get to hear him in Polaris for 3 albums. He was way too young, and the dude had a hell of career. What hit me the hardest, was his struggles. I deal with fibro fog (from fibromyalgia) every day and worse when I'm studying/working and it takes a lot of mental effort to help mitigate the debilitating pain, so that I may sleep. I've done different drugs to see what's it's like and it feels so nice to be rid of it, even just for a second. I remember being absolutely obsessed with his “In Due Time” cover back when Ryan released it on KZbin. I’m not much of an electric guitar player myself, but this incredibly talented kid made another kid want to be as skilled and passionate. What an amazing band. What a legacy. Thank you Ryan🖤

I subbed long before, but Ryan got me back into Killswitch with that cover. At the time, it was one of the highest production value covers on KZbin. He and I were the same age and I owe a lot of my guitar progression from that time period to him. A true legend.
@UngratefulKS Жыл бұрын
For me, I was new in the whole metal scene and was really curious about bands and music that I went on KZbin and got recommended a live peformance of the song The Remedy and that was the song who made me fell in love with Polaris and the whole metalcore genre and also made me a core head. Before Polaris, I listened to Trivium and BMTH, who is also amazing, but it was Polaris and especially Ryan and Rick with their guitar playing that made me a huge fan of Polaris and the whole metalcore scene, and also made me actually pick up a guitar and fucking try learning to play it so I could play one of their songs, that was my whole goal. Ryan was and are still one of my favorite guitarist that I have ever seen, and it's sad that I now can never see him play live, but all the live peformance I have seen on KZbin, all the music video where I see him stand there, playing those amazing riffs and just killing it on the guitar will live forever in my memory. He's a huge inspiration for me and my goals and he will be missed dearly. RIP Ryan, you will always live in my memory and in the hearts of every Polaris fans, metalcore enjoyers and everyone people in the world who is fortunate to hear your guitar playing. Hope you are happy and smiling from the place you are now and look down on the boys and wish them nothing but happiness and well for their future ❤

I'm about the same age as you. Been listening to metalcore for like 15 years now... The last few years, I've kind of moved on from metalcore to other genres of metal. But man, I'll always come back for this band. This band makes me feel like a kid again. They have that old school metalcore feel, but it's blended with modern metalcore perfectly. Every riff feels so thought-out. Like you can just tell they spent time on every single part of the song. In my opinion, they don't have any filler songs. They don't have a bad song. I've only got to see Polaris once, and unfortunately, Ryan wasn't at that show. They back-tracked his parts. I always assumed it was some kind of visa issue or something, since I'm in the US, but it really breaks my heart that someone that is "living the dream," someone that is doing what so many of us wish we could, could be in so much turmoil. He touched a lot of lives and leaves an incredible legacy though.

Polaris is definitely one of the bands who drew me back into the metalcore scene (besides reaction channels like yours). I was going to see them in a small venue in 2020 but just then Covid hit and that sucked. A month ago I would finally see the band at a festival but then this tragedy happened. Now I will never see the band with Ryan but his music will live on as well as his passion and creativity within the band. As a tribute, we can return the favor and spread the same throughout our (metal) community.
