Im part of a BrotherHood called C.I.B and we feed the homeless and give them backpacks filled with essentials, we feed them and we walk with a Group called The Sage Clan for protection. It lifts my spirit to see other people helping the homeless/working poor, helping out this xmas. You guys have my respect.

Sorry for your loss My cousin just died at 35 years old she has a infant girl and two boys under 6 She was beautiful and fun and one day she was just gone her mom was a officer in the Air Force they are upper middle class as well. Addiction doesn’t care no one would have guessed she had a problem 😢 it can happen to anyone given the right circumstances we need to show more love. People are in despair Because of that I found a program that sends free narcan to anyone who request it. I keep them in my car emergency bag because you never know so if anyone out there has someone with this problem it’s the difference between life and death sometimes

@Britt Sams please be careful of the narcan and keep them up to date if you can, it's tricky because they keep changing the method of delivery, and it doesn't keep its potency for a really long time. But, GOD bless you for caring enough to keep it, use it, know about it, it has saved my life, and in return, I've saved others with the same drug. Thank you.

I agree… I hate when people say they won’t give people money because they don’t think they’ll use it for food… it doesn’t matter what they use it for at least the have the choice to get a hot meal or a hot cup of coffee and if they choose to use it on whatever than that’s their choice… a gift shouldn’t have conditions. These people are sick and they deserve to be treated as a person just like everyone else. I can’t even imagine living on the streets especially during harsh weather.

Its usually the people who have never been addicted that say " addiction is not a disease". A lot of the time its not a choice just like it not a choice weather you take your hand away from a flame to not get burned. The drugs literally change the chemicals in your mind and make you think different than any sane person. And just like anyone else with a disease , they need help, sometimes a lot of help to beat it. Its a disease just like a cancer that takes over your body and you are defenceless to stop it on your own. Do you seriously think these people want this life?

Reminds me of a lifetime ago... Now im settled I give warm clothes & food to people in the situation I found myself in. I will say it's great what you done for the lassie in life but being "jumped" is such a norm on the streets & eventhough it clearly made you uncomfortable; instead of talking over her to change the subject just show a wee tad empathy then move on. Those on a different path tend to dismiss subjects they don't like but it's a part of street life & even though stories are often told through tough masks, it's deeply emotional being harmed by people in the same position & a willingness to listen(actually hear) can ease the storm within. That being said I'm not being critical eventhough it may well come over that way. I have so much gratitude for you & your humanity. You're a great soul for these lassies to be around because your genuine care is such a contrast to the hatred & harshness experienced daily on the street. I'm so sorry for the loss, you brought Raven a wee glimmer of special in her life & that's beautiful. I hope you receive the love you put out 💙

When I was in rehab, over 20 years ago, a counselor had a good number of chairs in a circle. He one by one talked about the different people that had passed that he counseled, as he took each chair away. There was only one chair left from the circle as he said, "Only 1 in 6 people make it".
