The power of a good interview. Thank heavens for clips like this. Of course have been familiar with Rip Taylor for decades but always when he was on a show peforming, so never really paid all the much attention to him. Because of this interview you get to see THE PERSON not just the act and now he really intrigues me..Great stories. Hope he writes his memoirs. - Montreal, Canada

Rip Taylor - when I first saw him I was probably in my teens, and I'm 62 (he was a regular on the Phyllis Diller Show in 1962 - and I thought he was the funniest, quickest comedian on TV. You had to pay attention, because he talked so fast you're almost laughing a joke behind.

Martin Short just did mimicry of Brian Linehan City Lights (Toronto City TV) and Skip E. Lowe. His head was filled with so much American popular TV from the 50s and 60s that he just regurgitates into his characters.

Who remembers the $1.98 Beauty Contest? So funny. The winning contestant would get a bunch of carrots with the greens atop (in lieu of a flower bouquet). And of course, confetti. I'm going to check KZbin for episodes that aired late 70's, I believe.

Gary Williams actually he was probably one of the best. If you watch more of his interviews you will see that he has the ability to bring out anything from people. He's likable, he's personal, he's engaged. And gets the utmost respect from his interviewee's. He's right up there with Charlie rose. Check out his interview with Timothy leary.

@@aquarius4884 poor dear you must have led a sheltered life, open your eyes, it's very evident, though not evil nor perverse oh, I see it as two people having a conversation. Two individual people having a conversation. I hope you understand that now that I've told you. Do I have to repeat myself, or do you get it now? "Haters will hate" is the saying nowadays.
