That sounds like a install problem I had the same t12 alarm/starter in my evo and never once had that issue the only problem was if I forgot something in my car after I set my e break it would shut down my remote start next time I tried to use it I would have to start my car with the key then do the break again to rest it

Great info that you could argue its definable based on the how reservation mode works, but this really helped me to decide on not to get CompuStar/reservation mode based remote start for my Subaru.

Just added remote start to my 2017 Civic Si and 100% agree with everything you said. I originally bought it for winter but wish I knew all of these things. Definitely need to change my habit when operating the car now. Forgetting something in the car, your SO needs to grab something quick, auto-unlock, very relatable scenarios but totally understandable.

Just got one installed in my truck. Not sure how to do reservation mode. If I was to leave key in on position my dash lights will stay on even with engine not running. The installer showed that have to press the button for 3 sec then get out. Atleast I can still use vehicle normally with unlock and lock and turn it over with key

Hey yo do you have to have the oem key fob with the remote on the key Chain? Seems like a lot to carry on a pocket ... Thanks in advance

I had mine programmed to two ebrake pulls in order to reserve the car so I can still use the ebrake and allow passenger to get out without shutting down the car.

haha yeah, we have so many things going on at the house that I end up shooting video with random things happening in the background all the time. My wife was going hard in the paint with some work things, we both love the clicky clacks.

Sounds like too much of a hassle, and comes at a high cost. My remote start journey came to an abrupt halt right here.

Hi, quick questions - In case someone has the engine running with e-brake on (such as the Subaru service center), if they get out of the car and shut the door while the keys are still inside the car, will it lock the keys inside, shut off the engine, and set the alarm? Also, since you posted this video, have you bought a backup battery and can you share what you bought and from where? Thanks!

In case someone has the engine running with e-brake on (such as the Subaru service center), if they get out of the car and shut the door while the keys are still inside the car, will it lock the keys inside, shut off the engine, and set the alarm? I did an experiment exactly like this when I first got the CompuStar system. It will lock the vehicle, but the engine did not shut down. I believe this is due to the push to start feature of the vehicle experimented with. Since the vehicles key fob is wireless, it picked up the immediate signal that it was still in the vehicles cabin, close enough to the push to start receiver, so the car remained running. I used the drone mobile app to unlock the car and retrieve the keys, shutdown the car properly, etc. What I would recommend, when dropping the car off to anyone else to do work on your vehicle or to park it (valet service), put the car into valet mode. This can be done from the CompuStar keyfob very quickly and easily. This will essentially disable the CompuStar system, making the vehicle function like stock. Once the vehicle is back in your possession you can turn valet mode off. It's simple enough to where I will put it into valet mode for quick stops from time to time where I like to keep the car running. In regards to the back up battery, I ended up not going that route as I haven't had any issues. I do work on my vehicles, in which some modifications require me to disconnect the battery, but re-programming (pairing) the keyfob back to the system was pretty simple. Since it was simple enough, I decided against buying the backup battery.

@@itshanrogers8977 I guess I’m confused though, I have to watch the video again, because I thought you said that if you stop and your passenger got out while it was a neutral with the parking brake set, with the engine running that it would prime or register the vehicle for auto start. That would mean It should shut off the engine and lock the doors.
@LarryGanz3 жыл бұрын
@@itshanrogers8977 So, I found out that to prime or register the car for remote start, while in neutral I have to pull up the parking brake, put it down, and then pull it up again. I was just pulling up the parking brake once.

Thank you for this video. I wasn't taking any of this serious enough :) Now I'm going to put more research into it. Thanks. I'll probably get the compuStar. Did you install it yourself? If you paid, do you mind telling me how much?
@itshanrogers89773 жыл бұрын
I paid for installation. Only reason for that was because it's the only way to keep the warranty, they require a "pro" installer for that. Depending on the features you want along with what key fob you land on will affect your price. For what I wanted it was roughly 5 or 6 hundred per vehicle.
