Dude, You're one of the only videos I've seen about installing a remote start on a VB WRX. Its seems so straight forward, that I want to try it myself. I've been quoted anywhere from $1,200, to the lowest $750 to have a remote start installed on my 2023 base. That's The other thing, that worries me, you made it seem pretty easy to figure out, although mine is a base model so I don't have the push to start, key only. but I imagine it should work the same way? So tempting, because this is a much cheaper alternative to paying somebody almost $800.

Should be basically the same, just need to change it from push to start to key when configuring within their software

@@HardwayLearning well man, you got me second guessing myself. I have an appointment on Saturday to pay some guy $800 to install a remote start, apparently it's a compustar remote start. But now, I'm think cancel and save $500 and do it my self 🤔 a little over $300 all I'm isn't bad! Hey question, What happens if you leave it in gear, and you try to remote start it?

You have to follow the brake/hand brake/release brake and lock with key fob for it to be "ready" for the remote start function. If you don't do that, it won't let you remote start. So it's fairly dumby proof. There is a quirk I haven't figured out where it seems to auto lock the car sometimes which makes me very paranoid that it will lock my keys in the car at some point.

The keyless entry still works, it just won't let you in if the car is remote started.

Great video! Where did you end up hiding the evo-one unit? Was there room behind the glove box? Does the OEM key not work once the car is remotely started?

I tucked it up behind the glove box towards the stereo next to the blower motor. OEM entry doesn't work when the evo-one has taken over with remote start 👍.

So I bought a used 2023 wrx with remote start installed by previous owner . I have been wondering how to make it work. After all it’s juste the way you said except after I press the button to lock it takes at least 2 minutes for the car to shut down . Other than that it’s like you said . Kinda annoying to wait 2 minutes to see if it will shut down I get stressed thinking it could stay on for the day haha

That's interesting, that shouldn't work that way. Are you locking with the fob? Does it confirm ready mode activated when you release the break by unlocking the doors and flashing the lights?

@ no in fact I’ve tried many things and I guess it’s the way it was configured originally but , I lift hand brake , release break pedal , get out press the power button ( second button from de bottom) and only then do I get flashes or beeps. Then it stays on for 2 minutes . The lights flash and turns off.

Thank you for the through installation guide! Was there no OEM remote start module for the 2022 manual WRX? The OEM one seems to be a lot easier to install and use except for the dealer activation part. Also is your phone OnePlus 12?

From my understanding they do not offer an OEM solution for the manual transmissions. It's a pixel 7 pro!

Thats stupid. When i had my 2019 manual mustang it had remote start. You mean to tell me that subaru tech is that far behind? Wish i new this before i bought mine. Whats the point of a subscription if you dont get remote start.

I've installed this Fortin Evo-One with the T-Harnes on my 22 wrx and followed your guide but for some reason I can Lock/unnlock car, when I Press the brake / pull up on the Hand brake then open the door and close it , It kills the car and lock it as yours does. But then i try to start it flasher goes on as if it started but wont even crank on go in ignition

@@HardwayLearning When you did your install did you have to go in depth of the setting as the Specific car guide says? Program Bypass Option : C1/D6/D5 for me D6 was at nothing should i switch it to yes?

So the keyless entry doesn’t work whatsoever or it only doesn’t work when the car is in “ready mode”

Keyless doesn't work if it is remote started, but will still work if it is not started, but if a door opens after ready mode is enabled, you can no longer remote start

Will remote start work if you leave the car in gear? Or do you have to leave it in neutral with the brake up?
