1. I said this in another comment but Mike was alluding to how this was going to be "nuclear war" at the beginning of this vid to signify the Yankees retaliation for 05. 2005 for me remains the most intense year of the entire era because for the first time, the Yankee fans were embarrassed and the Sox fans could finally stand up and flash a ring of their own. Every game and every pitch mattered and even when they weren't playing head to head, both fanbases were looking over their shoulder at what the other was doing. That whole season in AOL chatrooms and Myspace forums were loaded with Sox and Yankee fans jawing at each other. Its never been like that again because it was lopsided for one team or the other ever since. In 2006 the Sox regressed and in 2007 the Yankees were clearly inferior. If the Sox and Yankees met in October of 09, that may have been something but it didn't happen. Winning that first ring changed the dynamic of the rivalry and its been unmatched since 2006. 2. Mad Dog hit the nail on the head almost to a T when he asked about Boston's upcoming off-season. The Sox DID let Pedro, Lowe and Cabrera walk while re-signing Varitek. The thing is they signed Edgar Renteria, Matt Clement and David Wells to replace them. All 3 were a downgrade but at least they were aggressive like Mad Dog asked if they would be. 3. If this did go 7 games as Mad Dog alluded to at the end of this vid, Game 7 would have been the highest rated World Series game EVER.

People forget that Matt Clement was an all star in 2005 and was pretty damn good. What did him in was when he took a ball straight to the head from Carl Crawford after the break. After that, he was never the same.

I disagree on point #1. In my experience, 2005 was pretty chill. The Sox won 95 games but they seemed merely good to me, not great. But I kind of let the afterglow of 2004 sustain me that whole season, so maybe I just wasn't feeling the same things other fans were feeling. I attended several Sox games in the Bronx between 2000 and 2004 when I lived in NYC. I went to one of the Sox games at Yankee stadium in 2005. The energy inside and outside the stadium was soooo different compared to what it was before the 2004 postseason. Just my two cents.

There was, just not on the same level. Have to remember the Yankees were never the same after this and the Sox kept winning ring after ring. By 2018 the Sox fans had already been there and even Yankee fans had 2009 to crow about.

They couldn't show a bar in Boston b/c the Mayor banned cameras in bars after the ALCS celebration when a young woman was killed (Victoria Snelgrove) inadvertently by BPD.

I pay the highest rates for cable and get screwed by the NY fans. Drop dead Cablevision, Chuckie Dolan and the NYY. YES is broadcasted through out New England but the NEW ENGLAND SPORTS NETWORK is not available in ALL of NE.
