Have you been to Penrith Cumbria if not, start off from the train station, opposite is the old castle. In town down Angel lane is the famous fish and chips shop. George hotel in the centre, Italian restaurant up some stairs, set back from the street

I think I visited Ripon last year. I seem to remember that it's almost impossible to park and people tend to leave no room for you to actually open your door to get back in. Lots of places have a Kirkgate kirk being the original name for a church and gate being a corruption of Gat which means Street. I suppose that visitors could try to find long stay parking in Harrogate and get the bus to Ripon.

Ripon looks like an interesting city. Nice architecture. I was disappointed that we didn't see the plaque for the cabman's cabin. Great video Neal 👍

Apologies I kind of rushed this one as it was going to rain The plaque says: Cabmen's Shelter This rare shelter by Boulton & Paul of Norwich was provided in 1911 through a legacy of £200 by Sarah Carter, a former Mayor's daughter, for use by cabmen waiting for fares in the Market Place. By 1982, when acquired by Cllr R Simpson and passed on to this Society, it was badly decayed and has twice since been extensively restored. In 1999 this Society gave it back to Ripon City Council.

Good video as per usual! One of my pet hates here. The council has done a fantastic job of blocking paving the roads. However, when it comes to repairing them they just throw ugly tarmac in the dug-out hole rather than blocks!!!! Why would you go to the trouble to make a place look nice and then put ugly repairs in the road. Only in the UK I am afraid!
