Great video man. Wasn't much of a comic guy growing up (more of a tv guy.) I got in on ISOM because I wanted to see how far it could go & have been a regular customer ever since. Really looking forward to what they've got coming up.

I agree with you on interconnectivity but Marvel and DC presented this to young readers. I love Rippaverse but, I don’t think they can achieve the same kind of legacy as the big two if it doesn’t reach a younger audience.

@@dennisbridges8971 do you think their books haven’t or won’t reach young readers. Obviously not every single book will reach young readers. I think it’s still early and i have a feeling they might meet this challenge

I think they can reach kids. Right now they are reaching an older audience primarily but some of these readers are probably introducing it to there children. I don’t think they need to dumb down books to the paw patrol level but I do think they need a character more along the lines of Spider-Man, Billy Batson, or Static Shock. I also think they need more kids merch like backpacks pj’s lunchboxes. I fell in love with superhero’s before I could even read so I was not sold on story but on cool charcters that adorned peoples t shirts and kids bed sheets. If you fall in love with something at a young age your likely to carry that with you when you get older.

@@dennisbridges8971 I agree. Maybe in the future they can make a teenage hero that'll attract the much younger audience. So far all the characters are like 30+ adults.

I agree with Dennis. A teen hero seems like a must for the Rippaverse.

This is a really good point, a lot of their success so far has been riding off of old comic fans who are disillusioned with the current state of the 'professional' side of the industry. It'll be interesting to see how they handle that challenge going forward.

For me it's the following - World building - Interconnected storytelling - A commitment to continuity - Characters with mystique Although the Rippaverse is still in its infancy, it's already doing great work establishing its foundations for future stories.

You're definitely right about Isom #1 creating more future interest with introducing a shared universe. It just came at the cost of Avery basically being a side character for the last two books. Great breakdown and discussion 👍🏾🔥.

I had the same feeling when Valiant Comics came on the scene founded by Jim Shooter who Eric July greatly respects. They had X0 Manofwar, Bloodshot, Archer & Armstrong, Solar, and Magnus. I remember being excited to get the latest issues form Valiant, that's how I feel about the Rippaverse. Those characters slowly were interconnected so I'm thinking Eric took a page form Jim Shooter.

Rippaverse is obviously modeled on Valiant Comics, but as a business it is also a new take on what Crossgen Comics did. Crossgen didn't went the distance because the founder got sick and then died.

Honestly Eric didn’t do anything new except to show independent creators that they can earn over 1 million dollars by leveraging their KZbin channel after building up a fan base. Rippaverse connectivity has been very minimal when you put all the books together.
