Just a suggestion, take a sheet of drywall and try a few different technics like primer after the sealer and maybe adding white paint(just a little bit) to the sealer? That’s my 2 cents, the important thing is that YOU GUYS LIKE IT!! Thanks for sharing your life with us all! John 😎👍

Hi Doug, You are correct, you need to paint the walls and ceiling white first, 2 coats is best. No need to seal the walls first. Only after, How do I know this? I am a licensed painting contractor of 27+ years. Keep up the good work,

Good to know I just asked this. I want to do this over my painted wall's. My wall's are white and I love them just want to do this on one wall. It's so different. Thank you

Patty Liort a couple things to do different, crumple up the paper to give it some good wrinkles. (Texture) It was very trendy years ago but using brown paper bags from the grocery stores

I had the same problem when I did a poster mural on my brothers wall. For whatever reason that particular kind of sealer is just super harsh on paper and it just overly saturates any seams and edges, and in my opinion ruining the final out come. After a lot of trial and error I found out, that instead of using the same sealer you used for the drywall for the paper, to use mod podge craft sealer instead! Its inexpensive, dries completely clear and it seals the paper perfectly without overly saturating the paper, so no lines or seams. I definitely recommend giving this a try because for me it worked perfectly for his mural and 5yrs later it’s still well sealed and beautiful and that poor wall has been through it all lol

I have to admit that I've never heard that reasoning in a paper vs paint discussion. My impression from having had both is that paint is a lot easier to clean than paper that gets very dirty over time, but that might be because I live in a warm humid climate too... Tearing the paper just looks TOO FUN!!! How did Maverick not get in on that party? LOL!
@cherylemaybury25405 жыл бұрын
It looks really good on camera. I think it looks fine and like you said, once all the furniture goes in you won’t notice it anyway. Belle will be happy to have her own room again.

I liked the effect the first time and I like it now. It's not over dramatic, just has a hint of a natural stone type look, like white quartz. It gives the walls and ceiling subtle interest that would be hard to achieve with just a coat paint. I think Belle will love it.

Hey guys 😊. Just do things at your own pace in your own time, there is no pressure to get things done in a hurry. I have been enjoying this whole process, as with Jeff's new home. He said yesterday, that he felt very tired and that he wasn't going to perform to others expectations, I know he is right. Other people's opinions should never matter as long as you are happy with it. Love your work, be encouraged ❤

This technique will be great in a child's room especially, making the wall that much more resilient to bumps and accidents. I like the look of the walls in both rooms...the adult bedroom has sort of a parchment look to it....very natural and it looks so nice against the natural wood and rug. Nice job! :)

Even tho it didn't turn out ,as you guys had hoped, keep in mind this is your home, and don't let the people saying you should have done this or you should of done that, or that they don't like it, hinder your enthusiasm for doing your Home exactly the way you want to. It's easy to give advice, when your sitting in your livingroom watching other people work. Last but not least , It is Your Home & Your time & energy, your paying for the supplies, and your doing all the labor. Just have fun, your not trying to please anyone except You & your little Family. My guess is that Bell is going to love it ,no matter what...

The heavier paper is definitely the way to go...but prime the wall first. You’ll have a solid white background. It won’t look mottled because of the grayish drywall and whitish mud.
