listening to this record after many years I was very lucky as a kid to live with my dad in military housing behind the Garden State Arts Center had to go to a year of high school in Holmdel did not really like Homedale I'm from Elizabeth I'm spelling that wrong because I'm using voice text but let me tell you I was fortunate as a young kid because I can play some good ass guitar to play with guys older than me and a band called human remains with Jim and the guys and especially Dave witty bringing me into that project I was only 17 and I got to meet and watch ripping corpse many of times my favorite death metal band of all time I couldn't keep up with human remains so Dave brought me into a New York hardcore style band called well aware we are talking the late 80s early 90s I was very lucky to be a part of that scene in New Jersey and so many more to mention that I'm not mentioning God bless all those guys they f****** rock big time

There's some activity going on related to Ripping Corpse. Brandon Thomas, the drummer, posted a message on his Facebook on Feb 11 saying he wasn't retired anymore. Fellow NJ band Revenant shared the post. I don't know if it's RC specifically, but that's what the comments are speculating. Whatever the case, this should be good.

Last i read somewhere was that Dim Mak s done, since Scott Ruth and Shaune wanted to team up and start a new band. After the Dying Light, Brandon Thomas was mia, and the Capizzi blokes are doing their own thing, Scott Hornick and John Longstreth, i don't know. But i ve looked out for some Shaune Kelley involvement on other projects he's featured on, and the man still got it. This is the crime of the century, these great musicians, with the greatest most killer music, never getting their due.

I get where you're coming from. But i gotta tell u bro, Scott Ruth was all off that before those bands hit their peaks. Ripping Corpse was always the best band even in their primitive era, pre dreaming with the dead, and they're still the best. This unreleased LP s enough proof of how ahead they were. Shaune Kelley s the only guitarist who could make me see every death metal guitarist like meh, Chuck, Trey, Doug Cerrito, and everyone in between. And Dim Mak, the band this guys formed after Ripping Corpse s demise, is proof, again, of how much of an innovator at extreme music they truly are.

This really is nothing short of unbelievable in sound & style. Drums almost sound industrial, with ridiculously heavy reverberation to boot. Leads have an arabesque Morbid Angel-esque vibe to them, perhaps hinting at the thing to come for Erik Rutan though he wasn't in the band at that point perhaps? And the sludginess of the guitars man; I'm in dm heaven if there could ever be such a place. Metal achives says there were no vocals recorded for this album, so they were wrong I guess? Not only does this actually have vocals, they are also one of the best EVER! Not necessarily super deep or guttural but definitely sick and sinister. I still can't believe how monumental this sounds, such a pity this never got released. Why would nobody pick this up is beyond me, given how they've released every piece of shit from yesteryears 10 times over at this point.

Anyway, with so many bands reforming, we can only hope that Ripping Corpse may reform, too, or at least that these lost tracks are released or re-recorded.
