This is the first video in a very long time that I actually received a notification. Great video, it's comforting to know that I'm not the only one working on a cold, dark, dirt floor, lying on a piece of cardboard.

Hey Ryan Little tip from an old mechanic they sell disposable rubber nitrite black mechanics gloves on amazon they save a lot of scrubbing on your hands brake dust and grease is a pain to get off. That and the gloves help you keep the oils in you skin so the cold and dry wont make them rough and crack. I enjoy seeing people doing it the right way dont bad-aid it, fix it all right. good vid bro!

Hey Ryan. Not sure if you’ve already got parts yet or not? I’ve worked in the heavy duty parts industry for many many years and wanted to offer some guidance. You don’t have to buy from only Wilson trailer. I’m sure truck country or even Midwest wheel AA wheel Jim hawk will all have the parts you need. The S cams and bushing are standard Hendrickson style tube bushings and cams. Many companies make these such as Hendrickson, euclid, sirco, bwp etc. The brake shoes look to be standard 4515 or 4707 Rockwell shoes and the drums are the good old standby 66864 hub pilot style drums.. Don’t feel stuck shopping only from Wilson trailer for suspension or brake parts.

Thank you for doing a Sposed video, I do know WD-40 is a good company and I always try to keep some stuff around, I'll have to look for their other products, I really found it helpful to know what the blue hand did as when locking Semi's from being taken I always just locked the red hand while wondering why I didn't need to lock out the blue hand as well, and now I know and I really appreciate you having the sponsorship in order to keep this series going and supporting yourself and your farm!!

Love the Wd40, thought you would use thier penetrating oil. Spray the bolts frist then do the gladhands. Time is what it needs. I've used spray nine degreaser, they have regular heavy and marine formula, all biodegradeable. Blue shop rags are great for disposible and tighter on the paper. Good luck with all this work you'll be safe to drive and pass inspection. :)

Before connecting the hoses to your trailer, spit on the glad hand rubbers. They slip together much easier. Dry fitting them tends to pull the rubber out of it's seat. You only need to spit on the truck side. You will be amazed at how much easier they go together.
@HowFarmsWork6 жыл бұрын
Tried that and the spit froze in seconds 😂

Word of advice be extremely careful when tightening the glad hands like that. They crack and can blow off over time. Best thing to do is tighten closest to the threads where it's square. Also make sure you spray Brake clean or either over the spindle. That degreaser can dry in the threads and axle cap. Last thing you want is that to mix with the oil and cause bearing failure down the road. Other than that it's looking good. Can't wait to see it start hauling.
@joshlawrence45126 жыл бұрын
Hey ya got ProTorque nuts holding in your hub and bearing assembly... those are great.... and virtually fuckup proof. Stemco actually says to replace the retainer clip everytime removed with a brand new one but as long as it's in good shape (the locking teeth aren't worn) they are reused without issues. Follow proper torquing procedure during re install and enjoy

WD40... I love it. Hopefully they treat you better than they did OLF. He did a different take on a sponsored video by actually testing and using there products BEFORE recommending them. Us poor people put a cut off barrel bottom under it use Diesel and a parts cleaning brush great job. Been around semis on the farm since was a kid and if you take Trucks and trailers to field need to crawl under them once a week or more to check wheel seals and have somebody work the brakes. Have found every thing from baling wire, barb twine, bale netting wrapped around seals

Here is a easy way to get the bearings out of the rotors just leave the rotors on the car and put the axle nut back on a few threads. Pull rotor off let the bearing hit the axle nut when you pull it will knock it right out.
@eddeetz4936 жыл бұрын
The safety factor and piece of mind is going to be worth every dime you invest. Your loan will be covered and any surprises are fixed right with the first teardown and not have breakdowns at harvest. Stay warm and dry. You should run big red to practice and pick up parts. Great investment for the farm. I hope Chinas grain purchases push up all grain prices. Hemp production could also reduce ground planted in corn and beans raising prices. $5.00 corn in 2019. Beans add $2.00. 250 million tons a day to China has to help both.

It looks like you're becoming intimately familiar with the underside of your trailer. I will admit that I'm probably not the target demographic for anything other than good old original WD-40, but it's nice to see how well some of their other items work on jobs that I will most likely never do. As for you, it seems you are learning new things every day, which is a great way to go through life. What has been your biggest frustration with Big Red so far?
@HowFarmsWork6 жыл бұрын
My biggest frustration so far is that the trailer's unloading doors are locked up pretty tight. Still have got to do some work on those

you need to push that wheel sensor out slightly before you install the hub. when you tighten the wheel bearings it will self adjust. I would not replace the s cams. just install them rolled over from where they were. top to the bottom. new bushings and seals and reassemble.

A lot of large long distance truck companies pack their trailer wheel bearings in grease so as to offset the cost of on the road seal failure. leading to a possible out of service citation which would lead to repair by an outside shop,,,, The annual maint program... lets them repack the bearing at their conveinence...... And you can get away with reusing the wheel seal... We just bought 4 53ft dry vans and there is no rubber plug to add oil.......
