For a few mins there I thought this was the movie " DUEL" remake with Dennis Weaver and Steven Spielbergs directorial debut. Nice to see this was a family project with your dads experience. Enjoy these times with your family and your dad. I miss my dad so very much after all the years we farmed together. Farm safe!!

Then rain is a great way to rinse the trailer. When it gets warmer power wash the truck with good soap, and put a liquid wax for the truck body, and maybe CORN oil for the tires, so it is biodegradeable and safe for farm. Or real tire shine done in the shop wiped off once so it doesn't drip. There is water based and oil based shine which has uv protectant for the rubber. Foam the truck with wash and wax and you will get a little shine, then you can say the ride is pimped. :) Love the song. Don't know if you have it in the shop but a step stairs with two rail to clean the windows of Truck tractor and farm tractors. Best to put the work in now feel safe and not have dot give you a ticket and still have to fix it. Keep on trucking! You have a Long way to go, and a Short time to get there!

You did a good job of repairing the smaller issues you guys found. Little bit at a time. Keep an eye on that coolant leak at the radiator. Take your time when you haul your first loads hole different animal with a load give your self a lot of room when slowing down or stopping. And watch out for the SOB'S that will pull out in front of you. People don't like to get behind a truck. Trucks don't stop on a dime. Safe travels Ryan.

Wait till you have a full load in that trailer. That's when "okay" becomes a white-knuckled, "OH S**T!" I was a truck driver and still used my GI Bill and still went to truck driving school. Probably saved my life doing it. I also became the company rodeo champ for Matlack, Inc in NJ. Just take it easy in your turns with a load on until you get the "feel of it" down. Keep up the good work.

after planting and between hay some rubbing compound and a buffer will make Big Red a bright proud Rig to haul the grain. Real farming family is what America can't loose. Big co-opts farming thousands of acres paying low wages to hired hands are slowly taking over. Ago Businessmen still do work hard but have to answer to a boss still

3:15 Signal lights don't cancel. They make them that way deliberately so when you're cranking around, this way and that, to make a corner they don't cancel while you still need them. It'll shift differently loaded than empty. It's like driving 2 different trucks. You'll get the feel. I did. Take your time. You'll get a lot of work done with that truck without rushing. A rule of thumb is when you double your weight you double your stopping distance. When you double your speed you quadruple the stopping distance. You are about to learn (and hate) the lack of respect some drivers have for trucks. Good luck. Enjoy your truck.

There are other valves in the brake system that can get sticky also, the treadle valve plunger can get that way, especially in farm trucks. And the valves that the brake chamber air lines connect too. Oil and water in the air system from a dirty air dryer and a wet tank that isn't drained can cause havoc

This has been months in the making and will hopefully last you a long time. It was a project that taught you a lot, and it actually cost you *less* than my pickup was a few years ago. Great addition to the "fleet" of Kuster Farms equipment! Thanks for going over things for those of us who are rather "semi"-illiterate. Thanks for the video.

Be mindful of the position of the truck and try to keep it centered in the lane. I noticed in the video a lot of the time you were on the very right side of the lane. That puts 1/2 your tires on the reflective striping painted on the road which has HIGHLY reduced traction for your tires. Stay safe and good luck this spring!

The tractor protection valve is an electronically controlled valve. That in case the trailer will lose all air it will cut off any air going to the trailer so the truck can have air to stop instead of locking the truck brakes too
@Blazer02LS
@Blazer02LS 5 жыл бұрын
Yep bobtail shifts different than an empty trailer and that shifts different than loaded. Flatbed shifts different than a box trailer. Takes a while to get used to the changes. The loads will also change the braking a LOT. Easy way to learn would be to put a few ton of corn in it and drive, then add some more and work your way up to a full load.
