0:27 - chords 2:18 - strumming pattern 3:30 - riff 4:54 - play along It would be much more helpful, if you put timestamps in a pinned comment rather than in the video or in the description, because then we would be able to actually press the blue timestamp and go to the exact point in the video we need.

Hi Katie I love that you teach the riff. I am curious as to why you do hammer on instead of plucking both E notes on third string?
@OneMusicSchool4 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for watching 😀. I chose the hammer because I thought it was faster. One of the advantages of hammer one/pull offs is speed. If you can eliminate extra plucking and incorporate a hammer on or a pull off, it allows you to play a riff more quickly. I hope that helps 😀. You could play it either way. This is just an option.

I hope you read this! Can you make a playlist with videos for a Ukulele weeklong or multi-weeklong bootcamp where you teach beginners and slowly build on the things you are teaching us each week? I feel like, as a beginner, this would be really helpful in making sure I am not jumping from song to song and missing out on basic skills that would be beneficial to learn! I think that having those skills and you slowly building us up and teaching us how to apply the skills to songs as we build up would be awesome! Just a thought though!

I am new to you channel and playing ukulele and had a couple questions. I see a lot of instructors who say you should hold the uku at a 45 degree angle and notice you do not. Is there a reason? Second when you strum what fingers are you using to strum up and down? Sorry if you answered these somewhere else.
@OneMusicSchool5 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for stopping by! Yes, the correct posture is 45 degrees, but I have to keep my uke parallel to the floor for split screen purposes. I do explain that in my newer videos because I realized it could confuse people. I am strumming down with my index finger and up with my thumbnail or the pad of my pointer finger. I hope that helps.
@joybusjourneys49035 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Appreciate you getting back to me. With the strumming are you continuing the pattern over and over again no matter what cord you are playing? My rhythm needs some work. When you do your Skype lessons how much do you charge and how often do most people have them?@@OneMusicSchool

Is there any video out there that plays this the way Vance plays it? He clearly uses completely different chord structures, and the song doesn't have steady rising feel to it that these versions have. Everyone keeps teaching it this way, but it's definitely not how it was done originally. (And I don't mean being a half step off.. it's just completely different.... watch his fingers when he plays it.)

Whats confusing me is when you play Riptide with the three chords you appear to be adding an additional down stroke before changing chords. So instead of DD UDU you appear to be playing DD UDUD Can you explain please? And yes transition from Am to G does take lots of practice to speed it up.
