Some trends I've observed: 1. Monolithic MCUs with RF capability (Bluetooth/WiFi/LoRa/LoraWAN) packed full of features you probably don't need or use. 2. USB-C on everything, whether it's warranted or not. 3. Every product comes with an app that wants to know your location.
