Does Linux run BETTER on a RISC processor than a CISC processor?

The way a semiconductor works has baffled me in that it can hold information and out of millions and billions information can be obtained from billions of semiconductors about 2 microns in size each, and the microprocessor has a few pins that connect to a board, how is it done.
