I still cant see how people say a cover is really bad because they like the original band. Its a tribute damnit and this one is a very good one. You cant compare RA to pegboy. Theyre both great in what they're doing

@lagann37 rise against is actually post-hardcore with punk influences except theyre going mainstream lately. i dont mind it, rise against has been my favorite band for years.

Not as good as the original, but you know what? Who cares? At least somebody is giving Pegboy props....it's nice to see a band that is enjoying success pay homage to the bands that made them what they are.

I don't really see the big problem people have with this cover, I thought it was actually pretty solid. Then again, I guess I might understand if people don't like Tim's voice, since he sings it quite a bit differently from the original, but I enjoy covers that aren't carbon-copies of the originals, and I thought he implemented his own voice into it well instead of trying to be the original. It's not like they're pretending to be Pegboy, they're just playing a tribute to a band they love.

You have to remember that "Strong Reaction" came out in 1991, so like you said, it is kind of silly to compare the two since they are from totally different eras (one is commerically viable by today's standards, the other more or less pre-dates pop punk) and the bands play totally different styles. And yes, the RA guys do like Pegboy - I know they are one of Tim's favorite bands, and Joe definately likes them.

I don't think he had a guitar in Heaven Knows or Give it All and had an acoustic for Swing Life Away when he had longer hair. It is an old guitar, yes, but I don't remember it from the videos. He got his Out of Step White Gibson Les Paul after this one. Best guitar ever! Chis also had his Obey guitar, which was also sweet.

Not a terrible cover by any means, a good strong "hats off" to Pegboy. I like it. I wouldn't say Tim has a filthy voice or anything, but he's never gonna have that perfectly clean voice either. There's always something in there throwing grit and gravel into his vocals.

Not bad, but it ain't Pegboy. Thanks for posting, always interesting to hear band covers. My friend and I saw Pegboy open for Social Distortion in Toronto years ago. Excellent show, both were great live.

As much as I enjoyed Rise Against when they were in their prime, I have to say they absolutely butchered this song. Pegboy's version sounds 10x better and Tim doesn't do this song justice. I'm only glad that it wasn't an even better song from Pegboy they ruined.
