OK imagine 20 years from now a hip hop record comes out sampling Señorita or Girls Like You or Dancing With A Stranger, and it's not a bad record but in your head you keep waiting for the words to come but they never do. Welcome to my 2000's.

Randy recalled, "I asked Puffy, in 1996 when he first called me concerning using 'Rise' for 'Hypnotize,' why he chose the 'Rise' groove. He told me that in the summer of 1979 when he was I think 10 years old the song was a huge hit everywhere in New York and 'Rise' along with Chic's 'Good Times' were 'the songs' that all the kids were dancing and roller skating to that summer. He had always remembered that summer and that song. When he first played the loop for Biggie, (he said that) Biggie smiled and hugged him."[6]

This song was used when Luke raped Laura. That could be the reason why. One moment on a soap, that spawned a 20+ year storyline. This song song reminds people of rape. A lot longer storyline in real life.

IIRC, Paul Jackson Jr. was on bass, Abe Laboriel Jr. was on drums and the great Joe Sample was on keys backing Herb up, with Andy and Randy and some 'friends' on the "background vocal effects." I wore this damn album OUT when I had it! Thanks for posting this track...especially the long version of it!
