This version of Leo is my absolute favorite, he's right up there with Rise Mikey and every other Michelangelo I've seen. He's so fascinating as a character... so much of what we saw in the series and early in the movie was essentially a mask, meant to hide how unsure and insecure he really was. It wasn't until he hit bottom in the movie that he finally forced himself to take off his mask, and that turned out to be last obstacle to finding himself and unlocking his true potential.

Leo was never my favourite turtle in previous versions, but after Rise I somehow imprinted on him like a duck, and it trickled down to the other versions of him too. He's just a silly guy your honour!! 😭

I know a lot of people disliked him for his arrogance, and I understand that because I didn't like the arrogance either, but what about his good qualities? Don't you know that episode where he seemed to be making everything really bad by accident, when in reality it was just a part of his plan. And the other one where he tricked Donnie into thinking he won so he wouldn't have to deal with the loud snoring in his room. And he did like 3 heroic things in the movie (sacrificing himself, bringing Raph back, and giving his team a morale boost) He seems to be actually....reliable? When he needs or wants to be. I didn't get why or how Leo could be the leader in Rise, but honestly now I get it. He wasn't a good option in the show, but thanks to the movie he seems to be becoming more fit to lead their group.
