lol it was crazy the transition between moderate and tough difficulties on this game. Tough, tougher and toughest all seem equally impossible to me

Tough is easy for me because youre still in the same playing field resource wise. Pending on game mode tougher is pretty easy unless you mismanage (or 1 of the ai starts taking over enemy cities). Toughest on the other hand is a bitch lol. I cant survive w/o hi rushing and killing 1-2 civs early haha. Did win my 1st ever toughest free-for-all match (with 7 a.i.) a month ago though!

Routinely play toughest, big huge map, 8 player. Never had to rush. Not even once.

Man I could never do that. My main strength and weakness at the same time at this game is I am a complete boomer. I will attack exactly once, when EVERYTHING is maxed out: all library research, all resource incomes, all tech upgrades, full pop army. SO basically I will create the bare minimum army to survive until I'm ready to attack. Never been able to rush. I guess I'm kinda of just too OCD to leave things undone back at my base haha, if i can click it and upgrade it, it will be done before I attack hehe

Same here. I don't really do any offensive moves until I have gunpowder, even then, I won't try and conquer until I'm fully researched (aside from the last 4 like AI). I'll build up military to defend resources though.

the way you sound rush, is capture and self destroy because they will outnumber you every time. So that way they would just come to fight and lose numbers

You might consider cavalry earlier. Their army comp is mostly light infantry. 4 heavy cav would clean up purple and green second game

.. ron is ez even 1vs 3 on hardest .. just rush 1 and then turtle 2 and slow push him .. but mate dont play on small maps .. it is way to ez go for big huge and no made better

I think you should do the same start as before (rushing one computer), but after that just defend your cities and rush to information age. then just nuke the crap out of one other ai. Play Turks because they have 100% faster assimiliation.

oh thanks! good idea, although if I only rush 1 AI, defending 3 all the way until info age is pretty difficult. I got another 1v4 I'll upload in a month or two, where I fully rush 2, then defend 1v2 until Info Age and go for nukes. I'll try playing some Turks sometime

Ah, you just needed an archer to defend against a rush on the first attempt. As you know, he counters hoplites and you can move him around your city by garrisoning and ejecting. City fire should be focusing the non-hoplite unit (usually it's a slinger but, being british, that CPU brought an archer of his own).

I havent played for years but I used to love this game . I used to play as Egyptians , they can build 2 wonders per city and build them 1 age earlier . They can build 7 farms per city and every farmer produces gold aswell . I make sure I always build the Taj mahal before anyone else . I used always play on maps with some ocean. My favourite map is the one with the island in the centre of the map . The fishermen are a excellent source of food and gold . Also off shore oil rigs for oil . I cant believe they didn't remaster this game if not completey reboot it .
