It makes sense that the Sandman is the strongest of all the Guardians, and the only one that Pitch really feared. Of all the others, Tooth and Bunny would be the ones kids would stop believing in the earliest, followed= later by Santa. Mainly because he gets the most press. But people still have dreams, both good and bad, all their life and so the power of those dreams and the desire to and belief those dreams can come true persist much longer. Also, Pitch stole Sandy's sand and corrupted it for his own use, it was never, really, his power. That was why Sandy could take them back so easily and why Pitch lost control of them when he was afraid of the Guardians. ANother little detail that I loved was Tooth Fairy. At the end when she hit Pitch. Her whole schict is that when you leave her a tooth, she takes it and gives you money. She showed it could work in reverse. When she flipped Pitch a quarter and he caught it and kept it it, that meant that Tooth was entitled to one of his teeth. That was why she was able to damage an immortal like that.

I think it's really sad that Pitch couldn't have a place among the Guardians. If you think about it, having a healthy amount of fear can save your life because it keeps you alert in dangerous situations. Even fear (in moderation) has its place in our world.

One of my favourite bits of voice acting and animation coming together in anything is Pitch's "no" when Jack demands he hand over Baby Tooth (20:44). The contempt in the voice is palpable and the accompanying sneer is excellently done.

He was an ancient soldier who was tasked with guarding a horrible evil known as "Fearlings", but when they tricked him into opening the door by mimicking his daughters voice, they infested him and turned him into Pitch Black. He never wanted to be the boogeyman. He had no choice.

No doubt his poor sister lived with survivor's guilt for the rest of her life. Jack may still have relatives out there, even though it's been 300 years. The books are written by the incredible William Joyce. He even wrote a picture book called The Man In The Moon. It's VERY beautifully illustrated. The dedication at the end, for Mary Katherine Joyce is William's daughter. She passed away when she was 18 from a brain tumor.

This is based on a series of exciting novels and beautiful picture books by William Joyce (called „The Guardians of Childhood“) and while it greatly differs from those, this movie is just phantastic and nothing but awesome on it‘s own. SO sad we will pretty much never see a sequel. I really love it. My son‘s still too afraid of Pitch to enjoy it, though. Maybe his little sister will be a fan, just like daddy is 😏

By the way, if you didn’t knew, „Lost Ollie“ on Netflix is based on a novel by William Joyce, too. They also altered a lot there (the original book can be somewhat scary to little kids) but it’s a fine story, nonetheless.

Jack frost is the darkest and most tragic character out of all the Guardians. He freaking died as a kid in the ice and got brought back to life as a ghost no one can see. That along with his Amnesia, Jack spent 300 years of his life alone , no friends or family. It's a miracle he didn't go insane during those 3 centuries of isolation.

Frankin and Bass's Jack Frost 1979 has always been my definitive reference when introducing people to Jack Frost, in which he is a tragic hero. He's traditionally seen more as a jolly rogue than anything, the "villain" stuff seems to really just stem from the B horror franchise that very loosely references the lore, but that's probably because of crazy memorable box art and the fact he's not used in a lot of other media.

I believe Jack Frost 1997 is a killer snowman. I remember seeing a dvd or VHS of it when i was a kid, and it was laminated, so when you move it, it changes the covers picture. It was a happy snowman, then it turned into an evil one. I haven't watched it because I was afraid to watch scary movies as a kid, lol. But then there's another in 1998 where a dad dies and gets a chance to hang out with his son for Christmas. I saw that one. And there's a cartoon one from 1979.

Few things, it's really sad Dream Works didn't follow through and make a series (it's based on a book series so plenty of material to work with), I know it didn't do that well at the box office, but neither did Trolls and they made three of those each one just about breaking even. There is a fan theory that Jamie is a descendant of Jacks sister. And last Jelsa, the Internet ship of Jack and Elsa, it has a strong following and has been around just about ten years.

love this movie and love the idea that all the different holidays and figures are out their doing their own things. As american focused as it is they also did a good job with the world building to give leeway for other nations interpretations of the holidays with the man of the north rather than outright santa, the tooth fairy acknowledging different stories of a similar nature and heck even just having the easter bunny being australian with boomerangs is so out there enough you could probably add what ever to the easter tunnels >< Jude Laws Pitch was inspired, so charismatic and manipulative, not just a horror monster but someone you could almost sympathise with and see jack maybe caving in to. And Sandy just so cute and fun! all the designs are just lovely and I just adore the styles. Jack Frost is generally depicted as a villian because historically frost and cold weather is a dangerous thing, late frosts in spring such as on easter can devastate freshly planted crops, early frosts can kill harvests and hit before firewood collected. Modern days however we are much more equipped to deal with it overall, its still kinda bad but in a lot of cases its more a nuisance or a fun thing (snow days at school!). That said i recall a few classic jack frost tales where he was more mischievous than actually bad which is where I think the writers took inspiration for this jack and his glow up! Also your makeup is freaking adorable! love it! might steal it >:3c

This movie is one of my fav but the thing is the books are way more interesting.. It explores the original story of pitch black, jack frost and the man in the moon and their relationship. SPOILERS!!!! . Pitch black has one of the most heartbreaking back story i have ever read.. that is why he is very complex and one of my fav "villians" .. He wasnt always the nightmare king but a golden general called *kozimos pintcher* who protected a golden kingdom that was far away from earth..this kingdom was ruled by a kind and powerful king who trusted kozimos to protect his people from the darkness that was created by fear and nightmares.. So with an army behind him he manged to capture it and locked it in seals meant to keep them away forever to create a peaceful world again .. But he wasnt fadt enough because the darkness manged to kill his beloved wife and duaghter.. 💔 And because these seals needed a guardian the king chose kozimos for this cost.. After losing his family he slowly began to lose his mind and the darkness used that to their benefit by mimicking his duaghter's voice to isnt dead and had been captured by them this whole time .. "she" cried for her father to save her for months and in the end kozimos couldnt take it anymore and was forced to open the seals to save "his duaghter".. instead he got posessed by the darkness and became pitch black...he corrupted his army of golden warriors to become nightmares and nightmare men and with them he manged to destroy the kingdom he once swore to protect and killed the king and the queen.. However.. before they were killed they used a powerful magic to protect their one_year old son whom named *manny* aka the man in the moon .. This powerful magic created a star called *the nightlight* who took the baby faraway from the fallen kingdom and planned on taking him to earth but pitch black followed them and fought the nightlight into a battle So huge it ended up freezing them both in a lake on earth and leaving manny on the moon.. After So many years the baby became *the man in the moon* and with his power he tried to raise his guardian from the lake But in doing so the nightmare king was awaken too and that was the start of *the dark ages*.. On The other hand the nightlight tried to stop him by dreaming and he manged So while the man in the moon chose the other guardians to spread hope and wonder without Actually meeting jack frost .. after that the nightlight decided to change his fate from dying and becoming a star to search for the family he saw in his dream and become human called "jack frost" and he found them and lived with them for a long time that is how he met his "sister" whom he loved dearly.. The lake accident was done by a loyal servent of pitch black who broke the ice trying to kill both of them but jack stepped in and saved her .. Jack frost didnt Actually died in the lake he got frozen and in Order for pitch black not finding him he let go of his power and memories.. That explian why he doesnt remember anything from his childhood.. The story is so beautiful that it deserve an original movie but the studio is stupid for not even trying to do So.. 💔

Have you noticed Clariss that Pitch's demise in this movie is pretty much the same as Steppenwolf in Josstice League?

Rise of the Guardians came first, but anyway, you can go back far earlier than that -- it's the same as Professor Screweyes' demise in We're Back
