Super clean! I built the stand, for my 120gal out of wood. But I did consider 80/20 as well. My next tank will be an 8' long build and I'll probably go with an 80/20 stand for that.

Nice looking stand. The stand looks strong and well built. My only worry is that the adjustable feet look a little thin. Will look forward to updates :)

Cesca's Reef Thank You for the comments. The feet should be ok, they have a load capacity of 5000 Lbs each and the stand has 6 of them. Thanks for the concern.

I recommend using AluFab for extrusion, they'll help with design so you don't have to wing it yourself. They do both design and will provide all the extrusion. Better price than 80/20 too

Just wandered across this, and that stand is WOW. I thought about doing 80/20 for a my new tank (200g), and it gets really pricey once all the fasteners get in there and you add in all the machined parts. Although my biggest concern is having a beautiful stand like this, I want it showing, now covered up with wood. I am curious how do you know how thick to use stuff so you don't get any sagging, or strength issues?

I’ve heard about making these stands over the boring wood or custom stands. Now that i found yours I’m really inspired! I just can’t get an answer on span lengths per different sizes. I’m doing a 240 and going to try and use the build calculator on 80/20 . Net. Anything you would do differently? What were the dimensions for your tank thanks.

Bad ass build! How did you end up mounting the power bricks to the din rail? Also, where did you get the black wire channel? Or did you paint them? Thanks for all the inspiration and help.

yeah cuz I need help building a stand for the 12 gallon long I want to know what would be the proper measurements and how much would it cost I wanted to be at least 4 feet tall tank Dimensions: 35.4" x 8.3" x 9.4"
@JoesCoralReef
@JoesCoralReef 6 жыл бұрын
I just did a quick estimate on 8020.net. Roughly $250 for the 25mm aluminum and the fasteners. Qty: 4 - 25mm square x 47" - 2 Counter bores in on end Qty: 2 - 25mm square x 35.4 Qty: 2 - 25mm square x 34.43 - 2 Counter bores in both ends Qty: 4 - 25mm square x 6.33 n- 2 Counter bores in both ends 32 - Counter bore fastners. Don't hold me to this, I just did a quick design of a stand.

Thanks. I used the dimension tool and cutlist extension in the sketch up app . I have a video on using sketch up. I also made a paper drawing to double check the sizes. If you need help or want me to check a sizes, you can email me at joescoralreef@gmail.com. I plan on using hinged doors.

Very nice. Love the black. I especially like that you added shelf features to the stand. Shows the versatility of 80/20. You had mentioned you designed this on sketchup? Can the design be shared on 3D warehouse?

sorry i just found the conversation below with kendal. question, did you use the 25-5050 for the legs and the rails for the length of the stand then the 1 x 2 for front to back? watching your video it look like the legs connect to the same dimension. thanks for your help
@JoesCoralReef
@JoesCoralReef 6 жыл бұрын
The legs are 25-5050 and are used only on the legs. The front and back rail are also 25-5050, however the side sections are 2550. I may have misspoken before about the top rails. I'm almost finished with the stock list, if you send me an email I can forward it to you. joescoralreef at gmail.com

Viet Truong I have a material cut sheet and sketch up 3d model. Sketch up is free, I did a video on it. You can send me a email with the sizes I can help make sure it’s correct. I screwed up, made 2 pieces with machine counter bores on wrong side. Sucked I had to order more pieces and wait. Joescoralreef a t. Gmail is my email .

I have a 100 gallon tank sitting in the garage waiting to be set up. I hate the wood stand that it came with. I love the looks of your stand and have been researching 80/20 stands for a long time. How do you like the stand since you have it set up?

Hey joe. I'm planning to make this kind of stand can you help me get all my measurement and how much it gonna cost on my tank. I'm afraid to order a wrong measurement. Here is Dimensions: 18"L x 30"W x 40"H. And there is one store close to my area that they handle 80/20 product do you think i can ask them to get quote how much? Or they might charge me overpriced?

Looking at building a stand for a 6ft 200....what size is the profile you went with here?
@JoesCoralReef
@JoesCoralReef 6 жыл бұрын
kyndal anne Hello, for the legs I went with 2” x 2” , 50 series. The top frame and bottom connections I used 1” x 2” , 2550 series. For a 200 I may add two more 50 series legs.
@phoenixrising4573

Thank you immensely for that. Having a lot of trouble finding a baseline for where to start, and I at least know what I'm looking at now. Prolly going to have a steel stand built for me, I think 8020 might be a touch to much cash. Have a great friend that's a talented welder
@phoenixrising4573

although looking at my cut list, I'm coming in at 260 just for the aluminum, That's more reasonable than I thought. 25-5050 is the right part number for the rails and legs correct?
@JoesCoralReef
@JoesCoralReef 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, 25-5050 is correct. How are you going to fasten it, brackets or the counter bore hardware? To save a little money I purchased my fasteners from eBay, a guy called t-nuts. If you shop around on eBay, you can find brackets and fasteners cheaper.
@phoenixrising4573
@phoenixrising4573 6 жыл бұрын
Actually That's Wht I was just looking at....the brackets from 8020 would be nearly 300$ for the brackets and the t-nuts, a little more than I could afford. All I would need are the standard 20mm corner brackets and tnuts correct? The counter bore is probably a bit more than would be practical on this build for me.
