Would recommend you to start with the hardest difficulty. That's definitely the way to go. Its gonna piss you a lot but beating a certain boss after putting in extra effort in actually learning the mechanics and then beating the boss gives a different level of satisfaction. It's their first game where they are giving difficulty options. But definitely go with the hardest difficulty.

In 2024, I strongly recommend you to never pre order and wait for reviews. Games now are so complicated and cost so much that they rush the product and it end up being buggy at the start and takes several patches to fix it. I had my lesson with somes games in 2023.

This is the first Team Ninja game I am going to play. A more streamlined and forgiving souls-like combat set in an open world - sounds good to me. I think souls-like are too brutal, but when it's more forgiving and streamlined in a more "classic" open world, it might be something for me.

I'm on ps5 so dd2 is a no go unless they can improve the performance, I've been looking forward to rise of the ronin since wo long came out, as much as I like capcom for the monster hunter games, imo team ninja are just better at creating a smooth and fluid combat system, if I were on PC I would get dd2 but the console versions just aren't looking very good, especially for an action game that requires a decent framerate, it's not like I'm asking for 120hz mode, but a native 1080p performance mode targeting 60fps should be mandatory for an action game, there are much better looking and more demanding games on ps5 that have a 60fps performance mode, this is clearly a optimization issue

I feel like they could have improved it on the PS5 for Rise of Ronin but are technically held back due to optimization period and deadlines to compete with other titles. Their HQ must be wanting a big title launch in Q1 2024 most likely, if they let it cooked a bit longer before releasing, they probably fear they won't catch the wave of sales. Heck giving 2 more months to optimize the console version would be a better improvement to tweak the QoL and optimize the engine at least, and it wouldn't have to compete with DD2 taking away attention. Or maybe they are fearing the unknown, with many more games releasing AFTER DD2? February and March has been kinda of low on the game release hype train, but April to July might be busier.

They should have made a world like FromSoft does. Their worlds are empty also but they just fill it up with difficult enemies and the occasional npc. Don't even need to do Elden Ring type open world. Could have just built a connected world like their older games.

People are soooo sceptical about this game. Just because its a samurai game set in japan people are comparing it to GOT. GOT is a completely different game and if you are expecting GOT you will be disappointed. However if you expect a sekiro/nioh open world game, I think its gonna be a great. Graphics have never been important in team ninja or fromsoftware games. Even elden ring doesnt look that great graphic wise, but it still won GOTY because of combat bosses open world i.e. overall gameplay. If you really think about it, demons souls remake looks way better than elden ring but people would still preferr playing elden ring because of gameplay. As long as the gameplay is good I'm sold.

I’m taking away 1 big positive from this. Traversal is good. I look at this game like a second Elden Ring. Since it’s another open world souls from Fromsoft’s rival. And while we all love Elden Ring and already preordered the DLC… if I’m critical for 1 second I have to admit I hated Torrent and regret the 50 hours of spamming sprint when making 10+ characters.

@jc._.goated its no where near that good. Infact it is below Ezios horse in AC brotherhood. That horse at least had the proper gate of horse movement even if it ran like its legs were slightly to close. The horse I'm rise of the ronin has a weird slightly, too far apart rear legs, with bow legged appearance. I refuse to believe that is the best they could do. I might get the game, but that is off putting. The other option I guess is to pretend their is no horse and walk/run everywhere. If I can do that I will, but I will wait and see some reviews to see if that is possible.

Lots of pop in, framerate issues. In scenes where NPC's are present, especially several of them, there's weird things going on with same pop in, as well as NPC's not moving in a normal frame rate. I counted several frames of an NPC walking animation in the background, at it is like watching stop motion animation. This wasn't just one occasion. Also, the glider doesn't move that fast and I feel like it's because the map can't load as quick as it needs to, making the speed of the glider seem insignificant. I think this game is going to be a disappointment rather than a surprise hit. It seems like the devs reached a little too far for their ability level. I guess we'll see, but the red flags are there. And should not be ignored. Ghost of Tsushima it is not.

Hrm….. I’m not sold based on this. When flying the textures of the ground and the river bed looked so badly tiled. I think I’ll wait till it’s patched up and well reviewed, maybe when it shows up on ps+. If this was older then Ghost of Tsushima, then I’d be ok with it, but given that game exists…. Well I’m not overly impressed. Hopefully they can polish it up more pre/post release.

This looks decent but Ghost of Tsushima was so insanely well done that it somehow still looks better then this game and it was made on Ps4. The gaphics don't look as good. The foliage looks bland. Sword fighting doesn't look as good. Surprisingly, considering it's Team Ninja. Character animations don't look as good. And it sounds like the story won't be as good. I might still play it, but mainly only because it is multi-player online.

I love how the first words out of that white dude on the ship's mouth was "bring it on" lol.. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure they didn't say that back then.
