No. they tried the first episode of season 2 and hated it so much they skipped to the end. SeeOhKnee is also specifically not in this episode because he was too busy, and they needed a movie and since Rise was just not something he ever wanted to revisit, they watched it without him. "If it was like this, they wouldn't gotten a season 2." The main reason it got canceled is because fans of the old turtles bombed the show upon release. This movie was supposed to be part of the season, and season 3 was supposed to be about the Rat King. And I hear they still wanna make a rat king movie.

Nickelodeon and the neckbeard , so called “fans” of the franchise, ruined everything from day ONE. Not to mention the toys were trash, the scheduling was trash, and they still continue to keep the series “paused” and not give it to us straight. That it may never come back. Honestly, why did Nick/Viacom or whatever buy this franchise if they weren’t gonna do anything good with it?

Rise fans! Rise UP!!! I missed these reactions! When the trailer released that summer, my priority with that movie was to tune into Netflix that morning while having breakfast before anything else. As always with Rise, great animation, great music, PROBABLY THE MOST POWERFUL VERSION OF THE KRAANG HAVE EVER BEEN and I really wish people didn’t sleep on the show (a Season 3 feels deserved)

Season 2 definitely ramped up the serious tone for this show. But imma be honest, the reason this movie hits so hard for me is BECAUSE of the lighter tone of the series. Seeing how much they’ve grown and where they started. It hit harder than basically any movie to follow up a TV show I’ve ever seen and made it one of my favorite animated movies of all time.

absolutely this. i can't think of any other show that really defined that contrast so well- and honestly, i think a huge, huge portion of that is due to the fact that so many of the episodes, especially "filler" ones, emphasize and build on the connection between the turtles so you really feel for them and are invested in the relationships they have with each other. and then to go to the movie and see them ripped apart like that? well. it deals of a lot of damage, to say the least lol. and that's what makes the ending ever so much sweeter :)

2:52 You know, the original opening they made would have showed the base getting destroyed and a lot of the second characters of the series getting kled basically onscreen and it would have showed that hang on their walls there are Raph and Donnie shells, meaning they're gone. This show got totally destroyed by people blinded by nostalgia. If it wasn't the designs, it was the weapon changes. If it wasn't because of the humor, it was because of the team dynamic changes or the mystic powers (which aren't really new,.they've been around before). What people failed to see is in the title. "RISE of the tmnt". They weren't a team. They were crap at what they did. The show was about finding what made them so strong and becoming a strong family unit. Sadly it was all rushed because of the hate they got from fans. They were basically done with season 2 and had to cut out 80% or so of the episodes, and had to reshuffle some season 1 stuff to make it work. So much was lost because the "fans" cried about it being different. 2012 also got a lot of shit for it being 3d. It ended up having some of the strongest emotional stories in there. The entire point of TMNT is that there's a version for everyone! It is a confirmed multiverse! Why people ignored the animation spectacle that was Rise is beyond me. This is as good as the turtles has ever looked, having vastly different looks, personalities and for ONCE they aren't the same but colour coded. Hell, even Splinter is a great character who you learn to understand as the show goes on. But again, we lost major character moments due to Nickelodeon cutting out episodes. Thank goodness we got this movie, because it shows what they could've done if they had free reigns.

I mean to be fair, it was fall, fall further, then Rise++. Beyond nostalgia, there were clear problems with the show that even people who knew nothing of the franchise could see; above all else that most of the characters initially only had visual differences and were actively unlikable, ruining the lives of nearly everyone they came across. 4 contrasting brothers was the core of every other series, messing that up early on was crazy. I'm glad it survived to improve and give us some franchise highlights, but I'm kind of surprised it did.

@@TheArcSet There were problems, yes. But I don't see how it were worse than some of the issues in previous versions either. Rise is absolutely not everyones cup of tea, and that is fine. Characters that might seem unlikable missed out on story beats that were cut out due to the negative feedback. You can tell the show was meant to run longer, but suffered from being condensed in the way it was. I am still of the firm belief that the 80's cartoon is the weakest version, and I say this as a life long fan. It doesn't mean its bad. Just weaker. Rise is the version that had the biggest potential so far, but it never got there. At least in my humble opinion :)

I always roll my eyes at 2012 fans who critique Rise. Go back and watch 2012. It’s mediocre at best, but just boring for the most part. It’s story lines never quite hit home for me. Don’t even get me started on *April.* She is (imo) so dislikable that I had to skip any scenes with her in it. Animation wise, it’s the worst of the modern TMNT series (I understand it was 3d and experimental- but that doesn’t make the world any less displeasing to look at) That’s coming from someone who was obsessed with the show for their entire childhood. I still love the show. But it’s not the holy grail people pretend it is.

I dont think the downfall of Rise was that it was too comedic or anything. As you said, companies will make it as long as people watch. Problem is- Nick kiiiind of sabataged the show by putting it in timeslots where none of the target audiece would watch, didnt put it online, and then sent it to another one of their channels to rot. The moment Nick saw backlash from the fans that "Raph was the leader; Leo is too goody; Everyone is a Mikey; The artstyle was ugly" whatever whatever whatever- Nick seems to have chickened out. I remeber seeing Rise's first episode here. On youtube. That was either a last ditch effort, or a sign of what was to come. Either way, Nick did nothing to support the show after its first season, and the only reason the movie happened was because it was a signed deal with Netflix they couldn't back out from. I beg of you to please watch season 2. You saw only glimpses of the story it actually tells. While the movie is the most serious tone we've gotten, the second season shows the heart of the show. Season 1 is awesome, and you get to learn the characters, setting and action a lot. But in season 2 you get more story, more heartfelt emotion and generally even the filler episode go to support the message of the show really strongly. Please do not underestimate the shows tone. It is full of love, both from the characters, and the people involved who were so passionate, they wanted to make this work despite budget constraints.

the thing I always have to point out is in the opening scene, we only see Leo and Mikey, and there are two ribbons, purple and red, on Leo's sword. the implication is that Donnie and Raph died first. in one of the last scenes, where Mikey is opening the portal, it seems like history is about to repeat himself and he's about to die from the force of it. but then, Donnie and raph, the two brothers who aren't there in the opening scene, put their hands on his shoulders, and Mikey is able to survive. right down to the final wink Mikey makes, these two scenes parallel each other splendidly.

Here's what I notice about the turtles from ROTTMNT from oldest to youngest: Raphael (Age 17) is discipline, cautious, under a lot pressure, overprotective, emotionally, and makes the hardest decisions and sacrifices. But mostly being the oldest, he also tries to be the most "responsible" looking out for everyone. And given the fact he's an mutated anthropomorphic "Alligator Snapping Turtle", he manages to keep his aggression in check and is emotionally sensitive… *most* of the time. Leonardo (1st twin, Age 16) is cocky, overconfident, irresponsible, shows off and proves it poorly, and above all he is very "egotistic" who has a lot to prove. And given the fact he's an mutated anthropomorphic "Red-Eared Slider", there are a lot of his kind in the world and some of them are restricted or banned like New Jersey (which he brings up a lot) and he's probably the only one of his brothers who's part of the LGBT. Donatello (2nd twin, Age 16) is cocky, overconfident, very picky, isolated, vulnerable, uncomfortable with physical contact, very intelligent, somewhat crazy, very understanding, and above all "narcissistic" who has *too much* to prove (almost like his twin Leonardo). And given the fact he's an mutated anthropomorphic "softshell turtle", cautious around others being "nosy" (smelling something that makes him uncomfortable figuratively and literally) and very sensitive physically and mentally. But at the same time, he still tries to show a lot he has to offer. One example is how close he is towards his little brother. Michelangelo (Age 15) mostly immature, energetic, hyperactive, anxious, very creative, unhinged, emotionally unstable, friendly, been taken for granted, open-minded, and above all else someone who "doesn't like being looked down on" who has a lot to show for it. And given the fact he's an mutated anthropomorphic "Ornate Box Turtle", He's too trusting. He's probably the only turtle who can't swim. And since he cares about being part of a happy family, he probably does everything he can to keep everyone together and positive, and has more potential than even *he* realizes.

The movie takes place after the 2nd season of the show, so if I were you, I'd watch the 2nd season, then rewatch the movie again just so you understand more of the stuff that happens. When Donnie hit Krang 1 with that energy drill, did anyone else think that that was a callback to TMNT (2003), when Donatello was sent to a future where Utrom(Krang) Shredder conquered the Earth? (Spoiler Alert) His brothers all died in the final confrontation, but Donnie managed to stop him once and for all by running his body through with a giant drill.

If you guys like this way more than the rest of the show, you should check out LEGO Monkie Kid! Starting at Season 2, the show has all the positives and none of the negatives. The voice acting, animation, plot, powers, characters, voice acting, choreography, and music are all unbelievably hype, it's definitely worth a watch.

As a fan of TMNT since 2003, 2012, Rise of the tmnt and Mutant Mayhem, Rise is still my favorite version of the turtles so far. The animation, the characterization, the development, the softer tone, the mix of action, comedy and subtle drama, and the close-knit family dynamic that remind me so much of One Piece's crew. As the serie is still paused, and the movie sets a basis for a season 3, I hope we can get more seasons and hopefully a movie sequel too! ❤💙💜🧡💛💚🖤🤍🐢

Finally, I get to talk about this movie online! At one end, since the show got canned it's good the can see the potential of this version of the turtles, it got good stuff like Casey jr (who isn't the original Casey, Cassandra is) but it felt rushed, and it needed more time (I know they did the best they could)
