One correction that I did not include in the video is that the amount you would have to spend would technically be reduced if you purchase the shop packs prior to opening up either of the chests. Because the Mathoms and Gems you get from the packs you can then use to on the chest and lovely Sack. I can't deny it either, when I saw this event I was quite disappointed with it and agree with all your points Breakfast, you did a great job in summarizing it. Whenever I see events like this I ask myself "where the good old loot system from the past has gone?" Remember when you got more golden items when the Mathom Vouchers weren't there yet in Season 1&2 when the game was still new? Something has happened...

Thank you Azra and I think what happened is the devs realized that with vouchers they could force players to spend more while simultaneously reducing the amount of gold equipment in chests. That then led to also changing the invitation system from 1 invite into require 3. Instead of just increasing the pull chance that did this so that you would have to get luck not just once but 3 times yet try to justify it by adding the commander friend feature. But that is a joke because we all know most commanders aren’t even useable until R5 so how in the world would a commander that’s not even fully unlocked be of any use. It’s all just a scam to make players feel like the need to keep spending on gems/mathoms in my opinion.

In Germany it’s even more expensive. About 1000€ you have to spend to fully participate in the event.

This has been going on since season 2-3, took a huge leap when they added vouchers to the mix and now it's just obvious.

Yeah I’m still not a fan of the voucher system, i miss being able to dismantle equipment but they took that away from us

@@the2ndbreakfastclub blue and green equipment is useless if you have been playing for more than 3-4 seasons. The dismantle of equipment was one of the best features for both f2ps and whales. Now they may only eliminate everything below purple tier.

Absolutely agree! Never bought gems, never planned to buy them, but the amounts you need is insane. And you do not even know that this kind of event is coming our way. They all of a sudden release and think people will be happy. The main problem I see is that this game is not properly managed. Like you said - they already know the game is dying. I'd love to see some figures - playerbase, avg server fill. Another thing is if you look at their portfolio of games - that is just one of many in their range. And each one of those needs to perform. They have passion ... but for money, not games. Another anniversary is coming, so I can only expect another disappointment. They announced new game mode: rangers rise RP Guess what - almost a month later, that's not yet avaialble. And in the meantime they announce another gamemode. Basically the game has issues in so many areas. Playerbase is loyal, as we continue to play this game. In the end it's all a game of numbers (revenues vs costs).

Yeah I was hoping to play Rangers Rise in RP but my group didn’t want to wait. And yeah there are so many issues and bugs that should be addressed as well as new quality of life improvements that always seem to take a back seat to store page items.

You don't have to spend money anymore, I quit spending after the voucher update and started focusing on one t3 ( buying respect items and using gems only for gold mithril). Btw the only thing worth to buy is season pass

100% agree on this. Great video and funny, I’m just about to finish 3rd season so as for the cash grab practices didn’t see it in season 1 or 2, but now. I have spent a big amount all ready on commanders that are never used but show potential to mix up in game fights, I decided to take a gamble on the sack. 80 sacks and I have 1 flawless to show for it. 1 respect item. Disgusting. I will now just avoid events. Buy the odd normal chest from time to time and that’s it. The reply’s I get from support seem to be written by a teenager… I think they got lots of complaints tho it took them ages to reply on the whale group.

Quite sad the direction this game took since a while, the bad thing is that games usually start to introduce these 'milking cows' when games start their downfalls and the devs would try to squeeze as much money out as possible before the ship sinks. (By the way, without the beard you look like if you were your own younger version!! I'm looking forward to see if you'll keep it like this)

yeah the only pack that good in this event is those 2 that unlock after play tree thing event. not much but at least it have reasonable price. Tbh 1300 free gem for event is not that bad. but those mathom… yeah they are here for setting new lvl of how ridiculous expensive can go. i think more important is they didnt care about game balance for while. its no balance patch for almost a year and instead of tone down sunid some kind. They add another T3 comm that need to reach R5 to properly couter orc. what a pure cash grap.
