True. "Iconic" doesn't necessarily have to be super tall. It's more like a really unique design that sets it apart from the rest. It becomes the identity of a place, country, or city. A great example would be the Pyramid at the Louvre Museum in Paris, designed by I.M.Pei.

They're found in Chicago where the first one was made. The phillipines doesn't need a megatall tower. Its showcase is the natural beauty of how it exists the mountains, jungles and beaches, and the beauty of the people of the phillipines. Most of the mountains are taller than 1000ft anyways. Is it really neccessary ... Chicago is still an influential world city, and does not have a megatall. Focus the rest of the building initiatives on finishing up or completing the rest of the country's interconnecting infrastructure. Building only one building for the sake of only rich ppl who will use it because they will be the only ones such a building would serve, is not a smart or senseful idea. Create the infrastructure neccessary to handle the traffic. If phillipines wants to continue to improve by utilizing western techniques it needs to create the infrastructure neccessary to cut down on traffic and tagal or wasted time. Gotta not only build, but hustle behind it too. People visit the phillipines for a vacation on the beach or hiking the mountains for a view because its cheap. Not because they want to stand in line for an hour to go take a couple pics with the dusit thani sign behind them lol. Travelers, if you want a tall view, go to people's park in the sky in tagaytay city. Its an observation post ontop of a mountain. You can see the taal volcano rising from the water in the distance, surrounded by beaches islands mountains and jungle. Very unique landscape only found in a few places, but the phillipines does it best. And its affordable

iconic suoertall is to be constructed by private entity why people here are complaining about it and suggesting better Infra proj instead , eh si govt ang gagawa nyan hindi si private. si govt pa nga makikinabang sa impact ng suoertall
makati and bgc are world class. we dont need super skyscraper. what we need is a cultural tourist destination. like intramuros and binondo restore the old look and develop the area.

We don't need tall towers, what we need are healthy citizenry, educated people, good infrastructure for transportation and mobility

From what I know, height restrictions are imposed on buildings in Metro Manila due the natural disasters and the proximity to the airport. In my opinion super tall skyscrapers may look cool, but a lot of them lay empty because no one wants to rent their spaces. This is commonly seen in places like the Middle East, particularly in Dubai and as also in China as well. They are going to be waste of money and resources if no one rent and occupy them.

i dont find tall buildings appealing since they only blocks view. for example, italy ,france and germany japan have gorgeous and modern cities, but none of them have super tall buildings. im oppose to giant concrete rectangular structure as it proves that to be a modern city , it doesnt have to have mega tall building.

imagine, being able to personally witnessed those proposed towers since Centennial Tower and after 20 years wala ni isang naipatayo? that even Grand Hyatt is said to be not 318m but rather a 280M up to the pinnacle, is such disappointment. But, the author did not mentioned that there is a height restriction of only 250meters for a high-rise to be built in Metro Manila. That is why no proposed towers higher than 250m were ever materialized (250m up to the roof) Grand Hyatt is 250m up to the roof and 30m spire. Other example is Trump tower was supposed to be 280m pero ayun, kapantay lang ng gramercy. The Park central was proposed to be 270m pero nag top off na mas mataas pa ang Discovery Primea. Let us see with the Estate Makati kung matutupad ang pangakong 280m nito.
