I'm sure people have said, but pretty much every single "No one knows" thing about Blazblue they said (and some stuff you wondered about) is explained in-universe via the games, the manga, and the Blazblue Wikipedia (although the outcome would remain the same). For example... Why did Jin stab/cut off Ragna's arm?: Terumi possessed him and made him do it. What's Blazblue's currency?: Platinum dollars. Where was Jin all this time?: He joined the NOL and became a Major. How was there still Seither if Noel saved Ragna?: BB operates with different pasts and time loops.

Hey Ris. Not sure if anyone has explained it yet, or if you've looked it up yourself, but the reason Sol's name is Sol Badguy is because he's loosely (emphasis on that) based off of Freddie Mercury from Queen. Freddie's actual name is Frederick, and he was commonly referred to as Mr. Badguy, thus Sol Badguy. Also, the words on Sol's limiter headband are "Rock You" which references a Queen song, "We Will Rock You" and the "Free" on his belt reference Queen's song "I Want to Break Free". interesting pieces of trivia, just thought I'd throw that out there, since you seemed interested in the engravings.

For the sake of discussion, may I call out Death Battle's lack luster researching efforts? The following are responses to all the "No one knows" crap regarding Blazblue's side of the story. This irked me, so lets cover it real quick, shall we? 1.) Saya's sickness is yet to be revealed, although its not important, as she's clearly over it now. She was just sick and needed to be tended to. It could have been the common cold if you wanted it to, how little importance to the story it has posed so far. 2.) Terumi possessed Jin, making Jin insane and with the Nox Nyctores, Mucro Algesco: Yukianesa, Jin cut off Ragna's arm. Terumi then kidnaps Saya and Jin and brainwashes both. 3.) As for how Ragna comes into possession of the Azure Grimoire, its been explained in the games. Dont use the anime because its convenient. It was inside the church, and after it was burned down, it happened to be exposed to Ragna in the shape of a jet black head. Delirious and desperate, Ragna reached out to touch it and it dissolved, reforming itself on Ragna's stump of of a right arm to form how we know it today. Rachel, nor Jubei, had any real role in him receiving it, and she certainly didn't magic it onto him. 4.) Ragna knew it wasn't his arm, because it felt different. It wasn't a organic, human arm, for one. Jubei had to fill him in on what it was exactly. He didn't know what it was at first. 5.) The Azure grimoire isn't a peice of the black beast, but a Ars Armagus made by Terumi. The effects vary from person to person, and for Ragna its generating body parts of the Black Beast. Terumi has his own, and it creates a soul sucking field around him. 6.) Magic without the use of a Ars is called Sorcery. Socery does not need seithr to use and is much stronger, but only a few people can use it, whereas Magic is something anyone can use with Ars magus. What any form of Ars does is called Magic. Ars requires seithr to operate. (Its worth noting that Azure Grimoire makes seithr and also runs on it) 7.) Jubei went to do his own thing. He left Ragna, Saya and Jin in Celica's care. He didn't need to watch them. Quit acting like he needs to hold their hands. 8.) Platinum Dollars. The currency is called Platinum Dollars. Ragna's Bounty is 90,000,000,000 platinum dollars. 9.) Blazblue is a series that creates alternate timelines when something involving time is screwed with. Ragna does become the Black beast and would do so in a never ending loop, but Ragna was saved from this viscous cycle by a "Continuum Shift" known as "this chick" or aka Noel Vermillion. Noel didn't exist in all the other timelines. She was literally the only difference and thus the only person who could save Ragna. The continuum shift continues and Ragna surives, creating a new timeline that the series now takes place. In the most recent game, Ragna jumps into the past to learn out a tool he needs, but loses his memory and only remembers his title of Bloodedge. This is why he was able to fight the black beast. the black beast was never prevented, but Ragna does survive.

Seriously, they took a shit on one of the best stories in fighting games. Just because they couldn't find the solution does not mean it did not exists nor did it mean that "No one knew" when anyone who paid attention clearly did. Using the over simplified anime in substitution is just lazy. Not to dispute the fight, any sane person from either BB or GG would Ragna was going to lose this fight from the get go.

sadly bloodedge didn't exactly stop the black beast but he did fought it for a WHOLE year. That's still something. Not to mention he did it to delay the black beast as Nine tried to create the Nox Nyctores. What an unsung hero.

Blazblue calamity trigger -> blazblue continuum shift extend(latest ver of bbcs) -> blazblue chrono phantasma the games do explain stuff tho, a lot of it is explained in the 3rd game. You can get the first two on pc and chrono phantasma on ps3 or vita

Around the time this fight was announced, I saw some people say stuff along the lines of "Sol is a better character than that Dante rip-off" which led to that OMM soon after this episode. The fact that Ragna and Dante have little to nothing in common outside of appearance, kinda disproves this. There's also the irony in that they call someone a rip-off of Dante, who's never been original himself. He's always been an Inuyasha clone. Want proof? Inuyasha/Dante: Half-Demons wearing red, and has silver hair, mother was human, father was demon, both parents are dead, and meets a girl that they fall in love with that has a resemblance to someone important in their life. Kagome/Trish: Girls who are the reincarnation and has a resemblance to someone important in InuYasha's/Dante's life. Kikyo for Inuyasha and Dante's mother for Dante. Sesshomaru/Vergil: Elder Siblings (Half Sibling in Sesshomaru's case) to the main protagonists whom they despise whom they absolutely despise, wields legendary swords and views humans as very weak. Inu no Taisho/Sparda: Legendary Great Demon Lords and the father of the protagonists. Sango/Lady: Normal brunette women who still manage to kick some serious demon butt. That's right come at me, DMC fanboys, that's the truth, just have to accept the fact Dante isn't original at all and has always been a rip-off and a wannabe. Not to say he's a bad character, but he doesn't have an original concept :)

Gaara vs Toph, is it fair for someone who control sand fight the greatest earth bender of its time? i know Gaara can do amazing stuff in his own universe, but Toph is no stranger when fight a sand bender. the only advantages that Gaara has is he doesnt need to worry about defending, his living sand does it for him.. but on the other hand, living sand are still sand therefore part of earth. If you think the founder of metal bending hasnt master sand bending, you are mistaken.

you got me more excited for the next one than this one. Toph can't see flying people or control sand, but can morph it, even the iron rich sand from Gaara's gourd (from the blood of all his victims, pretty sure this was official). Gaara is ruthless however and will cripple or kill with every hit making his victory one mistake away at all times. Even Shukaku, a huge factor, is uncertain with the opening it creates since Toph has fought off a huge spiri before in The Rift, a comic coauthored by the creators of Avatar about the events after the series. My thoughts, its all about vision. Will Gaara realize Toph's weakness and flood the battlefield with sand, or will Toph create enough stone to maintain her omniscient point of view? Becaause if she can, Gaara's sand shield will become his rock tomb.

Well the Black Beast pretty much took a entire arsenal of nukes and pretty much took absolutely no damage. It took a time displaced Ragna (The Ragna from the timeline in which he didn't become the beast), to essentially stop the beast for a whole year while humanity developed Ars Magus as means to finally kill it. While Sol defeated Justice, a Commander Gear that possessed the information density of a Galaxy Cluster, and easily one shot then destroyed Japan. While as a Gear, Sol is physically superhuman and has been fighting for nearly 2 centuries. Even with his headband Sol once charge at, jumped, and then punch a Ballistic missile warhead in mid air in order to simply ride on it.

Well, that conclusion was sadly predictable... I don't have anything against GG in general, but I really like BB's characters better. In this particular case, I like Ragna better than Sol because Sol is a Marty Stu character. One of the most well-made ones there are, sure, but a Marty Stu none the less... Ragna, I feel, is much more relatable in his humanity. Sol can literally get by on just being a badass, he can walk in like a badass, make a badass one-liner, cut down all opposition like a badass (because you can't make a one-liner and not follow up on it) and then move on, but when Ragna tries the same trick, he's faced with a deconstruction instead; if you try to walk in like a badass, make a badass one-liner and then try to cut down all opposition, you're gonna get in deep shit, because sooner or later, most often "sooner", you'll encounter someone who can kick your ass. Not to mention the fact being a badass all the time will quickly make your opponents aware of how you operate, making them able to basically bait you into being a badass in the wrong place or at the wrong time, letting THEM get their evil plans done without a hitch... So yeah, Sol really IS stronger than Ragna, but I still prefer the BB franchise as a whole.

Gaara vs Toph though...... ......let's face it. Gaara as Kazekage is more than fast enough and strong enough, not to mention intelligent enough, to keep up with and surpass Toph by LEAGUES. And even if they end up using young Gaara, the moment Shukaku comes out it's GG. If they end up using Kazekage pre-abduction Gaara, (I.e. when he fought Deidara), then Toph won't even last a minute. It'll be a fun battle, no doubt. But Gaara's got this.

Oh look, someone with actual common sense. Jinnchuriki Kazekage Gaara is leagues above ANYTHING that Toph, even Old Toph, has gone up against. General Gaara is as well, seeing as how he is able to control his father's Gold Sand, along with his Living Sand to absolute perfection. Sure, he doesn't have as much destructive capability as Jinnchuriki Kazekage, but it's the same arguement as with Kirby V Buu. General Gaara is more skilled then Jinnchuriki Kazekage Gaara, and is a more lethal tactician then Toph is by any means. Hell, even Pre-Shippuden Gaara can take Old Toph on, due to the fact that he is the most ruthless and destructive of all three of his forms. If Genin Gaara is in a pure enough rage, and lets Shikaku loose, it's all over for Toph.

Alex Fraser Your point? I know that Toph can sandbend, but it's not her strongest suit. She much prefers conventional rocks when she can. And however much control she might have over sand, Gaara's is far more refined. He doesn't even need to think for sand to leap up and protect him; when he DOES actively control it, it's near as fast a sound and stronger than pretty much any metal. It's also not simply a contest of abilities. Gaara is much more intelligent and experienced (yes, I know that Toph has fought dozens of enemies, but Gaara has fought and killed far more and has led an entire village of ninjas, as well as led an army). Plus, many people have said this... Gaara can fly. That alone fucks up Toph pretty hard.

If you want to know the story behind Sol's name the creator of Guilty Gear, Daisuke Ishiwatari-san is a fan of the rock band Queen. The lead singer of Queen is Freddie Mercury, who is nicknamed "Mr. Badguy". As you know from Sol's analysis, his real name is Frederick, which can be shorted to Freddie. So basically Sol's full name is a bit of an easter egg, and also a homage to Ishiwatari-san's favorite musical group.

Well even though I wanted Ragna to win I'm not disappointed with this outcome and I'm glad that I got to see another BlazBlue character enter Death Battle after Taokaka but I think that the next BlazBlue character that gets into Death Battle next I personally want my favorite female character, Noel Vermillion to fight against Aigis from Persona 3. But as for the next one I'm not sure who will win personally since I've no knowledge on Naruto or Avatar at all I don't mind on who wins or loses the next one.

This LET"S WATCH death battle by Ris Grestar is one of the only ways you can see it on youtube now :) I'm very thankful for subscribing to Ris Grestar because anytime I want to rewatch a deathbattle, some may turn out to be deleted from Screwattack's channel due to copywright issues blah blah blah... lol. not sure about the giant gears strength but Sol Badguy is centuries old. he is also a prototype an experimental gear or a test experiment. he isnt the full project neither.
