I’ve thought about this at length and the word we are looking for is: Blaggers In sales the most successful staff can blag. They can say what people want to hear, to get what they want. In the media, journalists blag to get what they want. For some reason politicians think they can apply the same blag mentality with policies and laws to get what they want. The problem with blagging is, it is short term it gets something in a moment, it sells newspapers on a day, it results in a sale in a moment, politics is a long game it takes months sometimes years for real policies and laws to actually benefit society. I was born 1942 and if this time is difficult it is because of this Tory Government kicking off with the insane and disproven austerity that is now recognised as setting our economy backwards. The higher energy prices came from the Tories running down our gas and energy reserves not taxing the obscene profits of the energy companies to offset such prices. Covid was mishandled by the Tories who cancelled the department set up by Blair to handle plagues when were hit by Ebola before. I have Long Covid that's cut 80% of my energy and strength after Johnson took down the mild safety measures we had so a young woman came up and breathed into my face in a shopping queue in May 2022 giving me Covid. (See Laurie Garrett's 'The Coming Plague' published 1994.) The Tories destroyed our economy and standing in the world by Brexit that costs us £100billion a year with the destruction of the majority of our small businesses. Then the corruption the incompetence the sadism the lying of our Tory Governments has destroyed the UK in every possible fashion. Vote these lying bastards out of office forever.

To give a balanced view: Sunak has given us 30 free nursery hours (can't overstate how much of a help that is), an economically stable environment, & reduced national insurance - fairly big wins. Oh and he's also opened green grants to nuclear energy (slowly reversing energy dependence). On the flip side, he's failed to garner support to stop immigration from rapidly changing the British culture. We can debate the reasons, but those are the big ticket items we're voting on. The NHS is now largely privatised, so the next leader will either need to spend big (without fiscal headroom) or let it go. Wouldn't like to be at the helm of that political decision. Lastly, we're at the brink of WW3 & the conservatives have left us without a defence to speak of. Either welfare gets cut (& i'm looking at that £10-15bn on immigrant hotels) or we raise the deficit to 5% GDP & hope inflation never returns.

Never mind the general election I was most perturbed and frightened at both Labour and the Conservatives saying they want to bring Palestinian people to this country as refugees. This is a bad idea on many levels. The biggest worry being that we would be bringing more terrorists into our country. We have imported quite enough people who seem to hate this country and our culture so why in God’s name would we invite any more to settle here. We have no accommodation to put these people in and would need to displace our own to make way for them. The programme I heard this was the lunch time political programme on BBC2 yesterday, Wednesday 22nd May.
