“What was still a catastrophic defeat in 1997 for the Conservatives would now likely be seen as a good result.”
Voters all over the country, across different demographics, have “lost patience with the Conservatives,” says pollster Luke Tryl.

We've had 14 years of trickle down policy after trickle down policy implemented in the tax code raising the base from 33% to 38%, no end of outsourcing and zero growth, Reeve reflected on this in her Mais lecture The question is how have the Tories managed to p1ss away so much money as they have also borrowed an additional 1.6 trillion to boot. I don't think taxes need to go up you just need to rip out all the Tory trickle down cr@p and in source the work so you have full control which will massively boost service levels.

I voted against Ed Miliband and I worry what the next Labour govt might do on energy if Ed gets his way. We still need North Sea gas to help the transition. I voted against Corbyn because he was too left wing, didn't like his views on NATO. I think the markets would have crashed quickly. I never wanted Liz Truss. But I voted Tory for those general reasons. I will vote Lib Dem at the next election.

The Tory paperwork that came through my door stated that Labour equals tax hikes. Currently, we are experiencing the highest taxation in my lifetime, and it seems that this money is vanishing into thin air. If higher taxes led to an improvement in the state of the country, I wouldn't be thrilled, but at least I could see the benefit. However, it feels like we're being taxed with no gain. I hope that the Tories face significant challenges.

The level of national debt is at an all time high and the UK in 2024-25 expects debt interest spending to total £89.0 billion. That would represent 7.3 per cent of total public spending and is equivalent to nearly 3.2 per cent of national income. In short the Nationalist Cons have bankrupted the country.

For the majority of the population and particularly the less well off half or so, tax monies in the hands of responsible government has far more spending power for good than a few pounds more in individual's pockets. Tax is not evil. It is essential to having a health service, education, roads, welfare, armed services for defence and so on. And above all taxes safeguard the well being of everyone in society.

I don't think this will be a low turnout election. An awful lot of people are rightly very angry at the Conservatives and in typical British fashion, they're allowing the rage to simmer. A lot done by governments isn't party political. If the number of roads needing repair goes up - then they need to be mended. If the number of nurses drops - then more nurses need to be recruited. And so on. So when you cut the number of people dealing with migrant applications, while accepting that migration will go higher, then you aren't doing the job. When the waiting list for medical treatment goes up, but you aren't increasing funding to address this, then you aren't doing your job. Rather, you are playing politics. You are treating running the country like having a religion - you dump commonsense, and claim that you have 'created a smaller state' and announce that this is success because this is a tenet of your faith. The population then realises they can't get the op they need. They realise they're paying millions a day to house migrants whose claims aren't being processed in a reasonable time. Most people don't realise that their country is being run by zealots, and assume that problems must be insoluble. And while they will blame the Tories most, many will still believe that no party can address these problems. It's lazy and not well-informed thinking, but it is the way it is. Labour have to allow dogma to take a back seat, and get the roads repaired, get nurses and doctors trained. Many people will subsequently go back to the Tories because they think the new Tory leader is funny, or racist, or whatever. But many, we hope, won't forget what the Tories have done.

Kier Starmer may be a good lawyer but he is not politically astute. Time and time in this election campaign, he has failed to hammer the following facts: 1. Rishi Sunak keeps boasting that he bailed out British companies and individuals during the Covid pandemic. However, he did so at great cost to the public purse, NOT from his own personal resources. This significantly increased the country's debt burden 2. The country had not recovered from that trauma when Lis Truss, another Tory Prime Minister, crashed the economy and almost made the country bankrupt. 3. That is the state of things a Labour Government will inherit. 4. With public services at breaking point as a direct result of Tory mismanagement of the economy, I am sure all of us would accept tax rises if it means improvement in our public services 4. Starmer should not be afraid to take the tax issues on squarely with the analysis I have put above

Can't let you get away with that. It is not a case of not honouring Brexit. They had to face the reality that what Brexiters offered was unreal and unachievable. You cannot leave the customs union and a huge free trade area which accounted for 40% of our trade and be better off. You cannot lose all the trade deals we were a part of as EU members and renegotiate better individual deals because as a small nation we can't bring to the negotiating table what a big group like the EU can. I could go on. Brexiters should have been honest in the first place. Explain that we would be worse off but you still wanted to leave and explain why. Then people could have voted on that. Instead, you said we would be better off which was either badly informed or dishonest. Now faced with reality you're looking to blame others with nonsense like 'this is not Brexit' or 'Brexit was not honoured'. This IS Brexit. If you didn't know it would look like this then I'm afraid that is down to your lack of serious research beforehand.

Yes, the millionaires who run and finance your party/registered business totally agree with you. I wonder why? We haven't even got the basics of an operation when you need it. Is that 'ambition taxation'? Google doesn't have such a term listed! So it's great to invent new terms, but wise to explain what you mean.

Everyone wants higher tax till they are the ones being taxed. Easy to spend other peoples money. I started packing my house at the weekend, ill sell up and leave when labour get in. Tax is destroying me. No more will i do it. IR35, NO HELP FOR SELF EMPLOYED IN COVID, private school fees you name it. Scrap all tax and replace it with a single one. Called ambition tax.

haha I do have to say it is funny given that Times Radio no doubt was biased and actually one of the reasons why the tories were able to feel confident despite being slime.

ps So just to be clear "Times Radio" is guilty, of co-creating a lot of suffering that currently is happening in the real world
