This song has something special to it in my opinion, as if the soldier you're playing as is high on medication to suppress the war going, while still seeing and feeling the horror around him as his fellow draftees are being slaughtered around him.

Door gunners were often equipped with the same uniforms and helmets as the pilots flying the chopper, so this is actually more accurate than the game in that regard. So they weren't qualified pilots, but wore the same uniforms (at least that's what you can see in images).
