When I said the red fireball is "mostly useful as a fireball that won't dissipate" I mean that part of it got buffed with the reduced startup. It has a few other uses in combos, particularly in the corner, but they didn't seem to change with this patch so I wasn't talking about them.

the VT2 teleport can be used to follow behind a meaty red fireball on the opponent after certain knockdowns that leave them far from akuma. this is extremely reactable so fireball punish moves with reach will probably make this not an option in some matchups, but i imagine some characters will just have to hold it, and akuma gets to be double digit plus after some combos if he's willing to burn the v-timer (and meter, as some KDs need EX red fireball to be a true meaty.) the change to timer costs means after some combos that use 2 VT2 specials, he might still have some timer left to do this. it can also be used as a corner escape, as EX red fireball point blank cancelled to teleport is still +2 on block after the side switch. considering how dangerous the corner is in SF5 i really hope i don't have to say how huge a buff this is, lol. i already thought VT2 was very good, frankly, and with these buffs i hope more akuma players will give it a shot instead of writing it off. FTR, VT2 lasts 3000 frames, and the timer costs are: red fireball: 1500 teleport: 1000 all other specials: 1300 VT1 lasts 4000 frames, and the timer costs are: fireball: 1000 air fireball and DP: 1500

​@@aliveby7140 How come Yun didn't win every tournament when he was completely busted in SSF4AE? How come Cammys didn't win every tournament last season of SFV? Characters can be ridiculous, but it also means people aren't sleeping on the matchup, or that people are unable to play the character in case to it's full potential. Akuma has been extremely common in tournaments, just like Cammy was in 3.5. Also what do we mean by online leaderboards? You mean ranked ladder? Pretty sure Akuma was right behind Bison as the most played character in top leagues.

apa123APA We’re not talking about SF4. But Cammy In SF5 was in just about every top 16 and Top 8 last few seasons. Where as Tokido is always if not the only Akuma player ranking high. You would think with such a high tier broken character more players would win with him at tournaments. No need to go back and forth just letting you know that your analysis is pretty erroneous. Opinions are like assholes everybody has them, but some are just full of shit. Sheeplike mentality towards the bias of a character who they deem top tier without any factual evidence is mind grating.

@@aliveby7140 ​ Yes we should bring up SF4, since the point was that throughout fighting game history, being extremely strong doesn't necessarily mean that the character always wins tournaments or performs extremely well, in spite of how strong they are. Chun didn't win everything in s1, but she was just as common as Akuma in the top tier meta, because she was ridiculous at the time. There are Akumas besides Tokido who made it to top8, and Akuma was extremely common in tournament pools. Nice of you to talk about going back and forth and then you dropped the "online leaderboards"-part immediately since that didn't fit your narrative anymore. As for last two sentences, "fuck you too"?

Tokido is still going to win majority of tournaments. But he's actually a good player so, that was already a given.

Super agree people underplayed VT2. I dont play sf5 because the games fucking ass but VT2 gets more damage and has incredible corner push anywhere on screen

still has the same amount of safe moves, they just nerfed the least used tool ex slide to -2 thats safe.
