These are the kind of buffs I was expecting after season 1. The new AA is alright, probably better for keeping people in the corner, since that is one of his weaknesses. He could already forego dashing in and instead vskill after EX chop/elbow. The vskill cancel gives him some neat stuff after EX stomp, though. Thank you for pointing out the vskill cancel in the corner is fake as hell. The EX knee is the biggest deal. It's kinda silly that it only hits standing opponents though. It's one of the biggest problems with VT2 (outside of losing parry.) Having a bufferable special off s.LK that gave him oki would have been great. Honestly, they keep buffing the dudes offense, when that's not really what he's been needing. He was a wall in season 1. He could control the screen with a couple of buttons and hit like a train when he got in. It wasn't the meta of that season, so he got overlooked. They preemptively butchered his best buttons in season 2 because neutral was supposed to have a larger focus than season 1 (we all know how that season turned out) and assumed it would be overbearing. It's like they keep reapplying band-aids on the same papercut that's healed and ignoring the bullet wound they give him in season 2.

I think these buffs are good for him but, I wish that they had fixed his neutral game that they destroyed after season 1. I honestly don't see him as more than a solid mid-tier grappler character... maybe high-mid in the hands of Gunfight and ProblemX. He's still got the same issues that got him killed since season 1 which is below average defense and poor anti-airs(yes ST HP is good but it's very situational). His oki is now much better but it wasn't terrible to begin with, it just wasn't brain-dead like some other grapplers in the game. He just had to work a bit harder for his opportunities and make good reads to really beat his opponent. That archetype fit Alex as a character, he's an amateur fighter that is all about outworking his opponents. I'm glad they gave him some good stuff but, I don't think all of that was needed, just restore his neutral game, give him the EX knee buff, and make his AAs more reliable close up.

I think Season 4 Alex got a bit over-buffed. I mean, must there be yet another character that can combo off an overhead? And all he needs is a bnb combo to set it up. Lol. Capcom can't seem to go a season without making one or two grapplers/brawler OP. Mika Season 1, Laura and Geif Season 2, Abigail Season 3. So congrats Alex players, you guys won the lottery this season. He is at least upper mid now considering the nerfs to top characters..

Considering that they nerfed him after season 1 when he was only a decent mid-tier grappler and then never addressing the destruction of his character archetype for 2 years, I'd say a few 'over' buffs were in order. Don't worry, they still never addressed his primary weaknesses that most Alex players complain about, which is his super poor defense and his mediocre neutral game(which was supposed to be what he was about when he was released but then the nerfs came) so, all you have to do is knock him down still and go to town on him. Or if you play a high offense character, just rush him down... He can't do anything about it.

In what setup can you fit a 51f vskill and a 22f startup overhead. Outside of a CC sweep VT cancel, in which he already has an unblockable setup.

​@@budafuka Right. He's making it seem like that is actually practical and optimal in any situation. No Alex player is going to use a v-skill buffed overhead to start a combo, it makes absolutely no sense to do so nor is it even super easy to land in any situation. His v-skill buff will mostly be used after canceling after landing EX stomp which is probably his best set-play situation and almost every character in this game has that. Alex kinda had it before but, it was very circumstantial and at times, not beneficial. People see 1 or 2 buffs on a character and automatically think, "THIS CHARACTER IS GOING TO DESTROY EVERYONE" when, in reality, those buffs may just make the character slightly better. Especially seeing when said buffs don't address major issues with the character overall and that leads to the character continuing to lose to the SAME stuff as they did before. Alex is in that boat still, better this season than last but, he's definitely still in that boat.

@@budafuka VSkill is cancelled from specials that knock down. And, as far as 22 startup overhead, it is completely in line with Ken, Ibuki, and Urien and they land those all the time--only none of those characters have command grabs that you have to look for as well.

@Nick Thomas EX chop/elbow launch the opponent full screen and he's minus if you try to vskill cancel in the corner or +2 at most if you cancel EX chop from a juggle in the corner. He's only +7 if you cancel from EX knee.

Alex lost neutral to many mid and high tier characters, only had oki on specific combo routes, and couldn't play a very strong defense or offense. The only way he could be dangerous is with multiple hard reads in a row. But then again, EVERY character is dangerous with multiple hard reads.

Not really, he is severely outclassed by other hybrid grapplers like Laura and specially Mika. He's barely seen in tournament play, most alex players (if seen), never leave pools. Gunfight, the best Alex in the world lost his 2 matches in Red Bull Kumite, his results across Asia are pretty mediocre as well, barely leaving Pools in most tourneys in the Region. Twisted Rivera, another high prolific Alex Player does not fare much better in NA. His most notable moment was when he won against Du in DreamHack Pools due to match-up unfamiliarity of the later, that's how much "OP" Alex is.
