one vital question is when you sell Put Option to earn higher premium to offset the loss then its a naked Put sale therefore you are required to keep an additional margin of more than a lac of rupees apart from what you already paid as margin. which will be difficult to arrange for many traders. so to make it zero loss strategy we need to keep margin money to the tune of total Rs 175000/-or so .

​ @Option Sailor , Selling PE when market is going down is extremely dangerous. I agree if market goes up bull call spread will have limited profit. But, if market goes down you will have limited loss too. On top of that if you sell PE, you will have unlimited loss in PE sell leg + loss in bull call spread.

If you'll wait for the market to go down & then sell a put it'll be already very far otm & if market still keeps going down just split the short put & covert bull call into bear put. Ofcourse you'll have to manage the position but the catch is that the need to manage this trade will be very rare. Hope it helps :)

I stand to differ as few others have already talked about when you sell a put 1.it's unlimited loss if it continues to fall further like in 2020 during covid the only sure thing is markets are uncertain and there is no limit to the extent of the fall 2.as is practical as days to expiry DTE comes closer the premium we intended to sell could be as close to atm or at times atm ,in some extremely rare cases it cud as well become itm so it's extremely difficult to manage the trade by selling a put 3.it is much more pragmatic to sell a call closer to 100 of not exact 100 so as we can minimise the Loss 4.we can deploy a put butterfly to extend the break even on downside 5. you can deploy a calendar spread on the put spread at the lower breakeven should the trend continue we stand a chance to benefit

in falling market u r selling additional PE, if mkt falls further meaning ur view has gone completely against and now u r bleeding on all sold positions. how is it a zero risk strategy. in case of an adverse news the sold PE will sky rocket. Hedging it below with PE also doesnt work cos in that case a strangle would have been better. your comments please.

When market is going down and you sell a put, you are just increasing the down side risk. You will start losing more money if market continues to fall.

We already sold one call option in the beginning at out-of the money range. That will give more profit, even if mkt still goes down. Hence we will be over-all at gain position. Only care what we should take is : while squaring-off, all 3 trades should be closed on the same day, with in 1 or 2 minutes time. I tried and it worked well. Almost 90% success rate.

@@sagarjainmp , Ofcourse -- there is no fool-proof strategy in stock market - which gives 100% guarantee for profit. But, compared to plain vanilla option-buy calls or pure option-sell calls -- above strategy is comparatively better, I felt. However, it is purely my personal observation. I may be wrong also.

Don't sell put option at the end Sell 2 puts of 50rs and create an order to sell a nifty future before 10to15 points from your break even and then if market goes down you will be risk free if market bounce break from your break even then just leave the trade and stay away from the market and accept the ongoing loss.

Do not sell put naked, hedge with 200 pts down put. And again market goes down then cover the call shorted and short another call 200 pts down. This will almost cover your all losses.

Superb strategy I hv backtested it for last 3 years. Results are fantastic. The only issue is you need to keep backup capital for adjustments which lies idle for most of the time. Out of thsse 3 years hardly 7-8 times adjustment was needed. Only 1 month there was huge drawdown when Russia Ukraine war begin..2 months there was no loss no profit❤❤❤

instead of selling PE for adjustment, sell CE @ 100 premium, when mkt moves 400 points, which makes the strategy loss free or less loss, if mkt. goes down. After that market reverses comes to positive zone, you will get some profit before it becomes loss zone, unless there is a huge gap up opening.

Only by selling calls you can minimise your loss but it increases your margin requirement. 200 points negative won't bring the IV or VIX down to buy put and manage your trade to Zero loss.
