I had a sleeve on 2/24. It's 14 days later and I've already lost 21 pounds. It's been an up and down ride so far with pain, food tolerance and emotions, but I'd do it again in a second. Update: As of today 83 pounds lost. Update 8/28/21...as of today 100 pounds lost.

I was sleeved May 25th... NO REGRETS! I wish my “fairy godmother” would make the pain in the left side incision disappear. I’m learning what my NEW FULL feels like. Learning to manage my mental food cravings because my mind says we haven’t eaten enough but my stomach says HELL YES WE HAVE! Pushing myself to ease back into a workout (walking) routine. Lastly, learning to balance my emotional energy and just enjoy the journey.

This surgery saved my life. I’ve lost all my weight in 9 months. Best decision I’ve ever made. Thank you so much. I heard that some doctors suggest before operation one needs to practice chewing food at least 25 times....I scares me for my friend gulps her food, really (chews her food about 5 - time). she want to go through it. Another friend who had hers 15 yrs ago said that was the worst part, she'd forget and it caused pain and nausa where even today she says I still chew my food 25 before swallowing. she everyone should do it anyway.

From what I have learned from various videos, you can't even drink much water at any one time. I have a bunch of medications that I take at night, which it drink with a fair amount of water. Dehydration is a problem...I understand. My family does a lot of hiking, biking, camping, backpacking and hunting. All require to be able to drink a fair amount of water including more than four oz at a time. I have a back surgeon that recommended me for bariatric procedure, without really telling me anything about it, nor listening to me and my personal ability to take time off. (I have two compressed disks that I am needing to have replaced.) I have enough time lined up for my back surgery....but adding this surgery I just don't have the time available as far time off from work goes. How much can a person drink at any one time with the sleeve? Then how about food and water intake, how much? I have heard through peoples videos, only 4 oz of anything at any one time. Have people been able to get back to working out in the gym, running long distance, or medium for the sake of being healthy and fit, without becoming dehydrated to the point of an ER visit? When hunting, you are no where near an hospital, let alone medical clinic that might be able to help. And I have not been able to get to my primary care doc at the VA to go over any of this for help in my thought process, to try to figure out what I will do....Any thoughts?

You're on! My late husband did not do the gastric sleeve but he did do bariatric surgery. He was 5'8" and 320lbs. He did the surgery in 2001 and died a year later at age 43. The only problem he had before the surgery was high blood pressure which was treated effectively. He became severely malnourished and died of complications related to the surgery. I firmly believe that he would still be around if he had not done it and perhaps even lived a typical life span had he lost only 1/2 his excess weight. I know diabetics even that are his size still here in their 70's. I would never mess with digestive organs. Lower the carbs somewhat, ditch most of the processed foods, test for nutritional deficiencies, don't eat for a period of 14+ hours daily, get to bed by 10pm, and get morning sun daily. Even if you don't loose all of your excess weight you will be healthier than having surgery and messing with digestive organs.

@4Veritas I'm sorry for your loss. 😢😢😢. My post was regarding the percentage of people who suffer obesity and the effects healtwise. I completely understand there are risks and I am sad your husband had that happen. My own mother passed away as a side effect of going under for a routine procedure in 2012. Also as a note for this conversation, bariatric surgery is far more invasive and has significantly more risks involved. I was going to get bariactric surgery 13 years ago and when I read the side effects and possible side effects I was terrified.

If you've lost over 200 lbs that's a lot of weight loss. I'm surprised they did the surgery, your body needs some fat to survive. I think your body kicked into survivor mode. Meaning when ever you eat your body stores it, to prevent shock. Too much weight loss in short period of time is very dangerous.

if you go raw vegetarian for about 3 weeks, then slowly add HEALTHY UNPROCESSED FOODS, then your stomach WILL SHRINK NATURALLY to a normal size. Needless to say, things like chips, cakes, pasta, cookies, sodas, etc, etc will cause inflamation and gas, and will produce fat and distention in the long run.

"polyunsaturated fats"" are TOXIC !! In the 1940s, the agricultural chemists found that they could fatten their animals faster if they poisoned their metabolic systems with an anti-thyroid drug. The found the animals would get fat on very little food. Yet, the drug turned out to leave a carcinogenic residue in the meat. Farmers soon found out that corn and soybeans containing polyunsaturated fats (PUFA) would do the same as the anti-thyroid drugs and suppress the respiration of the animals and make them get fat on very little food. In the process they found that they were getting these yellow-fat diseases and brain degenerations (degeneration of the gonads, infertility, and so on). Around the same time the medical people noticed that the cholesterol was lowered in the process of eating a lot of these polyunsaturated fats. And that led to the spreading of the marketing of unsaturated fats to the human food supply, rather than just for the fattening of farm animals. And since people didn't want to gain weight on the least amount of food, they needed a new reason for selling their fats to humans. And, lowering cholesterol became the excuse in humans. But the agriculturists knew all through the 1940s that corn and soy oils were very fattening, and eventually, very toxic. But since they sold their animals as soon as they reached a marketable size, they didn't care (if they died later; they were killing them before they had the chance to die of the degenerative diseases)." -RP Bottom line: Although, the polyunsaturated fats will lower cholesterol (by suppressing the immune system), one of their main functions is to fatten animals, including you if you consume them, on lower calories. This is why farmers use high polyunsaturated fats foods like corn and soy to fatten their animals. What foods are high in polyunsaturated oils ? Vegetables, seed and nut oils. Nuts, seeds, soy, corn, fatty fish like salmon, omega 3 and 6 oils, fish oil, and animals that are fed a high polyunsaturated diet that are not ruminants- pigs, rabbits, chickens . lifespa.com/scary-facts-polyunsaturated-vegetable-oils/

Dr. I am 9-10 weeks post op. I know n I think I have the staple line to tight on my stomach. This are my symptoms: cannot even swallow water at this point. Smoothies are also too thick for me, neither to say a bite of chicken or a complete 2nd phase meal plan. EVERYTHING COMES BACK, one or two bites n its out (vomit) I am lactose intolerant and Dairy Intolerant, I was confused 🤷‍♀️ with taking protein shakes that are marketed as clear protein but they contain milk; I thought that was the cause of everything coming back (vomit). My body feels very weak and fatigued ALL THE TIME DAY N NIGHT. I have always complained to my surgeon and the Nutritionist about not been able to eat after two bites n as it goes in it comes right out. I took vacation n I ended in the ER n have been Hospitalized for 8 days already; I am asking or requesting a endoscopy to be performed after just watching your video. Q: What can I expect next if they do find the staple line to be to tight,. I have faith that I found the answer to my desperate situation thru this video. I am not able to drink not even water at this point as I mentioned. Q: why can this happen? My husband did a different procedure. He did loose a lot of weight but looked terrible. Went from 320lbs to 180lbs. He basically died of malnutrition about 13 months later at age 43. Don't mess with your digestive organs! Lower the carbs, decrease the processed foods, decrease the hours that you eat to 10 or less daily (intermittent fasting), get to bed by 9-10pm, get outside in the morning and correct nutritional deficiencies. Not only get enough UV light because lack of vitamin D is associated with metabolic syndrome but get strong outdoor daylight in the morning by 9am and most importantly get infra-red light. You don't even have to be directly in the sun to benefit from infra red. MedCram's Dr. Seheult has an excellent podcast on near infrared.
