Funny, the same businesses that say they want you in the office will fire you when they outsource your position to India.

A lot of my coworkers did this when we were fully remote. Now our company requires two days a week and a lot of them had to quit. It's ridiculous and we all know it.

They did it on purpose. The point was to have people leave so they don’t pay out unemployment or have backlash from mass layoffs. They saved money that way unfortunately

It’s a double-edged sword. We are essentially forced to relocate to smaller cities, or more rural parts of the state that we live in, because the major metropolitan cities are extremely expensive. The amount of rent you pay, or how expensive your house mortgage is, depends on your zip code. Sure, smaller cities have less opportunities for employment, and the pay compensation isn’t the highest, but we’re all trying to scrape by the best that we can.

I've noticed my employer asks the most productive remote employees to continue working at home. I've even asked if they would like me to come in the office hoping it would give me access to a promotion/raise, but they said the productivity was more important than office time.

The irony of showing a pic, at the end, of a women sitting in an office at her cubicle sitting on a zoom meeting. She, like all of us, could have been doing that meeting from home.

oh the spin...I can see if a chief correspondent for Business Insider needed to be closer to a hotbed of residents and jobs to do their job. That is not the case for most remote work jobs that do not require face to face interactions to be successful.

Corporate spin corporations are the problem not remote workers. They have priced out their own workers and citizens. This is a rental and housing issue also.

The unfortunate truth. Same reason when I establish my company it will be fully remote 100%. The tasks can be done remotely, and all I see that as is a logical chance to save $50k/year on an office space while boosting the quality of life for my future employees and myself. Literally no reason in my mind for white collar to use offices unless there’s strict confidentiality reasons involved.

In person work is expensive on the government to maintain the infrastructure and the individual to maintain a vehicle. Unfortunately, bike infrastructure and public transit is lacking in the country to mitigate these expenses

There was an article about people doing remote work but they left the country and never told their companies. According to the article it make things difficult for the companies when it comes to taxes. In some cases the remote employees were told to come back to the office or be fired. One of the places is Mexico City. An affordable city with lots of things to do.

People always think the grass is GREENER on the other side... Only the wise and experienced know that to have green grass the owner has to put in work to make it so. Moving from places to places will all end up in disappointment if you expect the 'other' side to solve your problems.
