Sorry to hear of all the negative experiences out there. But I've been on .5 then 1mg once a day for about three months. Wasn't diagnosed with autism, but prescribed for my anxiety, paranoia, delusions and I for one really have no complaints. No side effects, and a big improvement In my symptoms, though not totally out of the water, I'm alot calmer in certain situations, I don't think my food is being poisoned, and I don't think the world can hear me think anymore. So idk. Sucks it has such bad effects for alot of people. But I'd say it works for me!

Nice information but only one thing... Resperidon should be started with 0.25 or 0.5 mg to avoid Side effects like uncontrollable hand tremors. Also it can be taken just once a day as it got a long half-life.

I won’t criticise it completely since in my case I consider to have actually saved my life during a period when I had very severe mood swings and manic depression. However, it defiantly did have side effects such as fatigue and other personal - if you get my drift - problems. I think it wouldn’t be too good for someone in a relationship and I can imagine it being bad for someone with high blood pressure, or who is elderly or otherwise unhealthy. I think the point is doctors need to make sure the right person is on it, but I will thank the doctors who gave it to me because it was what I needed at a time when my moods were just too extrem and I often felt like I wanted to die.

I was put on Risperidone about a month ago for severe OCD. I was wondering why I'd been eating more and smoking more over the past few weeks, and I can't think of anything other than this medication. I'm on 0.5mg, and I'm going to discontinue it. Does anyone here have any other suggestions for meds to treat OCD? Obviously going to speak with a psychiatrist before trying any, though I'm pretty desperate for something to help (simply anxiety and severe OCD; no schizophrenia) ☮️

Hi,I was prescribed this drug for anxiety. It does a wonderful job with anxiety. When I first started using it it literally destroyed me,after 30 minutes after taking it it put me to sleep almost instantly. The first weeks I literally slept for 14 hours a day and still felt like shit after waking up,tired and sleepy. The strong effect went away after 1 year of continuous intake,1 mg at night. I'm a guy,it literally gave me medium erectile dysfunction and loss of libido. One day I just said fuck it and stopped taking it after really bad memory impairment at work which sucks..fuck this shitty drug it is poison and fuck all the idiots who prescribe without knowing the consequences... yes the memory does return to normal after you stop taking it but read that it kills neurons and shrinks the brain too.

just two months ago my 15-year-old non-verbal autistic brother started self-harming himself by hitting himself on the head. I went to a doctor and told them what happened, they gave me this drug, just what the doctor prescribed it to me I gave it to my brother twice a day, in the early morning and evening for a whole month, but the problem just got worse, he became so easily agitated, confused and hitting himself more often. I stopped using it for three days and to my surprise, he appeared calmer although self-injurious behavior still persists, it only happened when he wanted to get something. in conclusion, I'd say that this drug causes more harm than good, I'd rather have my brother running around screaming all day long and feeling happy rather than taking this drug which instantly puts him to sleep for nearly an entire day

It can also be given to people with severe symptoms of OCD. Doctors should NOT prescribe Risperidone for JUST ANXIETY!
