Very informative at the end about the storage. I’ve been dumping my dye after use. 😬😬😬 I had no idea you could save it. I’m still new to dyeing. 🤦🏽♀️

this was the best video !!! love the dye storage tip. but you didn't use salt ?
@ritcolorcommunity8 жыл бұрын
Salt is an optional step. It helps give your more vibrant results but you can skip that step and still get a great look. =)

will salt in the dye more for synthetic fibers help or hurt the color vibrancy?

Transplanted American they make a special dye for synthetic fibers 🙂

I wanna dye some plastics but I'm curious why put water in it and also what ratio water to rit dye
@merlew_76008 жыл бұрын
Are there any allergens or harsh chemicals in Rit dye? Also, not that it matters to me but for marketing purposes, is the dye vegan? ( I know nothing about dyes so pardon me if those are silly questions ).
@ritcolorcommunity8 жыл бұрын
+Merlew _ Those are not silly questions at all! Our dye is nontoxic and earth-friendly and vegan (you are not the first to ask!). You can read more about the safety of our dye and download our MSDS sheets here for more information: www.ritstudio.com/safety/.

I've been making a blanket for my daughter. And I can't find anymore red yarn. Thought of dyeing some white yarn using Rit. But I'm scared to death of it turning out like caca. Can you do a tutorial using yarn? Love your vids. Stay safe during these awful times.

was that hot water ? boiling or room temp or hot tap water...thx. storage tips are great. Question: I usually dye with acid dye for 100 percent wool...I bought the RIT All purpose for wool...in Scarlet Royal Blue and lemon yellow...the primaries(couldn't get golden yello) so I'm assuming these 3 can be intermixed to achieve colours that are on my colour charts for mixing colours and they will turn out somewhat. Thx!
@ritcolorcommunity3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karin, the water should ideally be 140ºF. And as for mixing colors, you can actually create hundreds of colors with those primary colors, check out our handy dandy color formulas here: www.ritdye.com/color-formulas/?type=197&hue=0&collection=0&collaboration=0

I am making a small canvas tent. The pieces are about 6 ft wide and 5 ft long. I was thinking of using a cheap plastic toddler sized pool about six inches deep. I don’t want it looking tie dyed but even color. Any suggestions?

Can you tell me if I can remove the black color from cotton tee shirt without hurting the logo?
@ritcolorcommunity2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! If the logo is screen printed, the color remover won't remove the colors from the printed area.

I used rit dye ( golden yellow) today on white leotards,and they came out really golden close to orange. Is there a way I can get it lighter or re -dye with a lighter yellow and will it work.
@ritcolorcommunity8 жыл бұрын
You can't dye lighter, only darker. We have a few techniques that may help you color correct the leotards, please give us a call so we can ask you more detailed questions about this project: 866.794.0800.

I am about to tie dye my shirt rn but why is everyone using it for the whole thing? Can u decorate it with other colors too? Or it all has to be the same color?
@ritcolorcommunity4 жыл бұрын
You can use several colors when tie dyeing. We recommend using the squirt bottle method if you are planning to incorporate multiple colors. Follow these steps: www.ritdye.com/techniques/tie-dye/squirt-bottle-technique/

can dry rit dye be used for candle making?
@ritcolorcommunity9 жыл бұрын
+Ronnie Halvorson We're seen people use it this way but have yet to do it ourselves to try it out. If you google it you'll probably find a good tutorial on it.

+Rit Dye can i apply this with a brush?
@ritcolorcommunity8 жыл бұрын
The dye bath will be a very watery consistency, similar to watercolor paints. We frequently use paintbrushes when working with our dyes for various projects.

How can you safely dispose dye water in an apartment ?

Hi there! Our dyes are all septic safe and can be disposed down the drain.

Hi Hot water or cold ?
@ritcolorcommunity3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! The water should ideally be 140ºF. If tap water is not hot enough, heat water on the stove and add to the dyebath. Otherwise, you can use cold water and use the microwave method to heat set the dye. For more information, please visit www.ritdye.com/instructions/how-to-dye-using-the-microwave-method/

Can you dye rubber?
@ritcolorcommunity3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately Rit All-Purpose and DyeMore does not dye rubber, it may however leave a slight tint. We've seen this happen when dyeing shoes! If we don't tape up the rubber soles, it'll become slightly tinted.
@mzzzzz21793 жыл бұрын
@@ritcolorcommunity thanks for responding. Is there any solutions to colourising rubber? I'm trying to convert rubber from blue to black.
