This translation attempt attempts to preserve the poetic meaning of the lyrics. "I am from the wild shore, from the murky water and the fast current that descends beautifully through its muddy depth. I am a serious countryman. I belong to the backwater Valerio, where the sky takes flight over the Paraná. I wear the color of the river, and its very voice guides my song; the calm water and its gentle dance in the heart. But at times, it turns dark, flowing turbulently in the blind depth, transforming into gleam in this fisherman's knife. Christ of the fishing nets, do not abandon us! In the fishing lines, leave us your gifts. Don't think that you lost us; it's just that poverty makes us sad. The blood is tense, and oneself does not think about anything other than dying. Water of the old river, carry this song far away soon! It's dawning, and we are fishing to live. I carry my shadow alert on the (fish) scale of the water opened, and in the dizzying repose of the fishing line, I dream of raising the prow and lift the moon into the canoe; and so it rests, made a backwater, my own skin. Solace of my pains, oh Christ of the fishermen!, tell my beloved, who is waiting for me distressed, that I am thinking of her while I wade through the stars, that the river is rough and I am tired to return.

So lovely. Thank you Elisabeth and Rita. English lyrics (for the linguistically challenged, like me) PRAYER OF THE BACKWATER I am from the rough shore of the turbid water and the currents that falls beautiful by its muddy depth; I am a serious countryman, I am people from the backwater Valerio which is where the sky goes up in Paraná. I have the color of the river and its same voice in my song I follow, the gentle water and its gentle dance in the heart; but sometimes dark goes turbulent in the blind depth and it becomes bright in this fisherman's knife. Christ of the networks, do not abandon us and in the spinnels, leave us your gifts. Do not think that you missed us, it's that poverty makes us sad, the blood tense and one thinks only of dying; old river water take this song away soon that is clarifying and we are fishing to live. I have my shadow alert on the scale of the open water and in the vertiginous rest of the spinel I dream that I lift the bow and I climb the moon in the canoe and there rest a backwater my own skin. Calm of my sorrows, oh, Christ of the fishermen, tell my beloved that she is sorry waiting for me I'm thinking about her while I'm wanding the stars, that the river is wild and I'm tired to go back. Christ of the networks, do not abandon us and in the spinnels, leave us your gifts.

The problem with these computer translations is that so much gets lost, or is wrong. For example, it's not "Christ of the networks", but "Christ of the nets". (this is, after all, a fisherman's song!) There's probably a dozen more other changes I'd make, unfortunately I don't have the time. But to be fair, there is value to having Google translate it: it's super fast and gives you a quick read on the subject. I've done it myself, from Catalan and Portuguese. You just have to take any of those translations with a large grain of salt!

Elisabeth is such a beautiful person in so many different ways. Loved the subtle low harmonies. I was expecting to hear something with the bucket mute on the table, but the emotion in Rita's voice on this beautiful ballad, against the classical guitar virtuosity, was the perfect blend of fragrance, leaving me both content, and fullfilled.
