@@sintrix2020 The first thing anyone should do, after receiving a TBI, is to get an evaluation by a speech or occupational therapist. All you have to do is ask your doctor to give you a referral. I didn't go for the longest time because I didn't have a problem talking, no one told me they evaluate your memory. All my doctors told me I was fine. Then, over about 7 years later, my counselor is the one who realized I had a problem with my memory, referred me to a speech therapist and then FINALLY the ST pinpointed exactly what was wrong. MRI's are no help and all those other scans.

In 2 years time I suffered 2 brain injuries. Both of which were life threatening and life altering. My doctors said my survival was miraculous. Everything changed for me. I look normal but my brain isn’t. I have a service dog now and often get asked WHY.

This is really telling and helps me understand better what my friend H is going through and I shared this with her to remind her the need for rest and breaks as she has been really stressed doing everything alone and trying to be a good mother still to her kids while recovering from Traumatic Brain Injury. As one who also suffered a severe TBI, I want to first thank you for your video. secondly to agree with you regarding many of your points. The old saying..."fake it till you make it" has had a truly negative affect on me. As someone who was very high functioning and successful my injury has affected every, and I do mean every aspect of my life. Friends and family who don't see me on a daily basis think I have recovered and don't see the affects that my faking it have on me. After almost a decade I can tell you that my biggest challenge is fatigue, it never goes away and I find myself moving very slowly, physically and mentally to try and mange it. But at the end of the day it is always waiting to reappear. I will say you do keep recovering, slowly, and I feel blessed that I am so much better then I was after the first two or three years. But bottom line I wouldn't wish this upon anyone.

Thanks for the message! I'm okay. I seem to have healed better than most others I've met. There are survivor groups, both for TBI and Hydrocephalus. The hydrocephalus is more rare, challenging, and present for the rest of my life.

@@miraculouslyhealedGCS3I suffered my TBI in a bad car wreck in 1997..... I recently attended a State Brain Association convention and saw survivors that are a lot if worse off than I am... Some are in wheelchairs and can barely speak if at all ... Nothing like seeing cases like that to pull your head out of your a**!!
