I'm also fighting breast cancer, n also kidney cancer! I ABSOLUTELY love this n this is one of the songs I want played at my Celebration of Life one day, along with Why me Lord by Kris Kristofferson n Go Rest High on that mountain by Vince Gill! I'm a born again Christian n not afraid of death! Also, I love As the Deer panteth for the water, my soul panteth after Thee, which my, our daughter Anna, my Beautiful baby gypsy girl ANNA used to play on the piano at church n bcuz of her n the AWANA program led us to church n we were saved n baptized together years ago, she passed away unexpectedly in 2022😢

I just saw this at 3am and am in a complete pool of tears-You see my wife of 38 years marriage and 44 years in love from HS passed from this earth August 9 2018. It was from cancer-lung that had mets to her brain in the form of 20 tumors. We found this out on a routine DR check up just 2 days before our 2nd daughters wedding-yes that she had to miss. I had no choice as father of the bride but to attend and this with the Drs words in my head the whole time "Im sorry its terminal and she has maybe 2 months to live". We had only 3 months before retired after near 40 years each of work-bought our dream home and with her at 62-me 64 we were ready to conquer the world-this was our payback-be grandparents and travel and as she would say "Live-Laugh-Love! Whatever governs our lives had other plans we did not see or know and neither did the Drs. -all signs were missed- even she would say "Im aging-my bad back- Im just tired after our move"etc... all changes we attributed to something -anything but what it was found to be. The last 2 months after diagnosis was it and it was all over-in those 2 months she completely changed and the woman-girl I married and mother to my children was lost forever and changed (cancer can rob people of that!) and we just did what we could to keep her comfortable at home. Sadly we never got those moments of "rings distribution-love notes-etc...what robbed her also took away her loving ways-she was captured by an evil life changing menace. Sad but sometimes cancer and life is not the "clean and picture ready life " as portrayed in media. Im sorry this is so long but when I think back now she would say "write my story" and now I realize that while I cant write a book-I can do so by ways like this. This video was so spot on and when I saw the brain scan-that was it- a great sad and so meaningful song to many. I threw aside politics and allowed myself to just see the person and the people -not the actors they are. Besides it figures as Tom Hanks was my wifes most favorite actor from the modern era-it only figures he is prominent in this song with his wife. I apologize for making you read such a long comment but allow me this and know how much only 2 years later- I cant throw any party-I just grieve in pain and agony and miss her so. I have since turned 66 but feel 86- I have her ashes but not to be tossed but to be joined by me. Then and only then have I told my 4 children with my grandkids-then? You can toss US a party! I had that planned well before seeing this video. I look forward to that day and my wife and I will be dancing and laughing again alongside with them.

OMG. 😭. I just lost a dear dear friend. Such a real tear jerker. Beautiful song! That's just what we did. Threw a party on Caladedi Island here in Florida. When we all released her ashes that were given to everyone there in little vials. I released mine off the back of a boat ride against the sun. And my dear friend Jamie was sparkling in the sun. I didn't release all of her, I still have a little left in my vial. I needed to save some of her. In honor of our 35 years of dear loving friends. She went fast. Diagnosed in Jan and gone by April. She had a seizure middle of the night 2 hrs later ...3 tumors in her brain spread to her liver and lungs and she's never even had to a cough. Not sick a day in her life. SMH. I'm still grieving and can't believe how fast she went. Her last words to me a week before she left us were, I love you too funny girl. We hugged and kissed and cried and laughed. I'll never forget her. 💕. This song really hits home. more beautiful songs. 😊

I just watched your TedxNashvilleWomen talk and I had no idea you were a singer as well! A couple of things I want to say to you. 1) My favorite movie of all time is Sleepless in Seattle. I've seen it maybe 50 times or more (probably more). I annoy those who watch it with me because I cannot help but to say the lines. ...usually just before all of the actors do. The scene where you are talking about Debra Carr (or is it Debra Kerr?) sitting there with the blanket covering her shriveled up legs is one of my favorites. 2) I love your husband so much. I can't imagine a guy who could be any better suited as a perfect best friend. He just seems like he'd be the best friend anyone could have. 3) When the news came out that you and Tom both had Covid-19, I was low-key devastated. I had to imagine a world without Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson and it was not a good world to be in. 4) I LOVE this song!... and I'm glad that both you and I have found your music. :) Now... off to figure out What I Want To Do. Much love and wishes of good health and fortune to you and your family!

I lived my life as kind as I could I did my best I hope I was good I'll always wish I'd crossed a few more lines But I always lived like there wasn't enough time I'll leave footprints for you in the sand A couple of notes only you'll understand I have one wish that someday you'll see How much your love, your love has meant to me So when I'm gone throw me a party You should dance as if I was there Don't be sad or be broken hearted Send your voices up in the air Sing my songs and light up the sparklers Tell my stories and drink all my wine And know my life is just getting started When I'm gone Throw me a party Step outside with my ashes Wait for a beautiful wind Underneath that fire yellow aspen Toss me to her leaves and let the healing begin So when I'm gone throw me a party You should dance as if I was there Don't be sad or be broken hearted Send your voices up in the air Sing my songs and light up the sparklers Tell my stories and drink all my wine And know my life is just getting started When I'm gone Throw me a party The hardest part is Knowing that you'll miss me Won't you promise That when I'm gone you'll throw me a party You should dance as if I was there Don't be sad or be broken hearted Send your voices up in the air Sing my songs and light up the sparklers Tell my stories and drink all my wine And know my life is just getting started When I'm gone Throw me a party Don’t be sad or be broken hearted Send your voices up in the air
