Richie has a raw, darkness in his playing that draws you in. An absolute master of his craft yet very identifiable.

BLACKMORE IS GOD

Last time he played with passion and virtuosity was on " Machine head". "Deep Purple in Rock " and " Fireball " before that were astonishingly good too....but after he started ego--triping with head full of witchcraft and esoteric mumbo jumbo , calling a briliant ❤" Stormbringer" album a " shoe -- shine music " and then becoming quite nasty to every one else, I've lost all of my admiration. Listen to his interviews: it's all about him, enjoying, as he said him self "being difficult" ?! His "Rainbow" adventures were nothing special , sounding more like " Black Sabbath " then "Deep Purple", and his ego tripping became increasingly nauseating the older he got. The medieval period was the last nail in the coffin!, not much worth mentioning and way too far from his abilities. He became a sad caricature of him self. But above all, his nastiness is just beyond any understanding, except that he is simply, a nasty , resentful person, not worthy of any admiration apart from his early days. He is God? Not bloody likely !!!

@milenakorovljev4209 If you don't like Ritchie so much why are you here? Why did you write a book to reply to three words? Why are you such a dork?

@@brenthatcher5748 Calling me a dork will not do. There is no doubt that he was spectacular player. I'm not denying his skills but his arrogant attitude grates just as spetaculary ! I repeat : watch his behaviour, listen to what he is saying while being interviewed . If you can not see trough his bull, don't blame me. Listen to what people who played with him are saying: no-one denies his skills, but his diva behaviour is obnoxious! Every one of us have a "use by date" and our days of greatness or, perceived days of them. His influence spanned for many years and it rubbed on many guitar players. I was in awe when afore mentioned albums hit the ground, but adulation he received spurned him into an area where hubris took over, leaving a bitter taste in the mouth not only in my case, and I'm not the only one who feels that way. I am guitar player my self and have had opportunity to play with much better musicians then my self and I can tell you, when he started his ego--triping, many started cringing and openly loughling at his "troubadour" costumes....just pathetic...it is a shame some people cannot see a forest from the tree but that's the way it goes. And the reason I made a comment is my way of lamenting the loss of a good musician to the trappings of self --adulation. Also, the reason I'm writing a "book" about it is because it is very difficult to take people out of their own delusion. Yes, great musician. Now, a has been. He's got only him self to blame for it. Period.
